Oliver James is partnered with a mid-sized U.S. P&C insurance company that’s looking to bring on an Accounting Policy Specialist to support its growing finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys technical accounting, policy development, and research.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and maintain the company’s accounting policies and procedures, ensuring they stay current with GAAP and Statutory Accounting (SAP) requirements.
• Lead accounting research efforts and advise on complex accounting issues across the business.
• Monitor FASB and NAIC developments and communicate relevant updates to the finance leadership team.
• Coordinate annual reviews and updates of all accounting policies and procedures.
• Support quality control of quarterly and annual SEC and NAIC filings, including review of disclosure checklists.
• Partner across finance to ensure compliance with internal records and information management policies.
• Help drive consistency and accuracy across financial reporting through documentation and process improvements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• CPA preferred, or willingness to obtain CPA.
• 5+ years of accounting experience – ideally from public accounting, insurance, or financial services.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and/or Statutory Accounting.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
