Contracts Counsel (Insurance, Remote, Part-Time, IN HOUSE)

Our client – a privately-held leader in the U.S. insurance and retirement planning space, know for its expansive distribution network and rapid growth through acquisitions – is in search of a part-time Contracts Counsel to provide overflow legal support on complex commercial agreements and contract management initiatives.

This role will focus on carrier contracts, partnership agreements, portfolio agreements, vendor contracts, and assist with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate carrier agreements, partnership contracts, and vendor agreements.
  • Support CLM system implementation and ensure contract compliance processes are aligned.
  • Advise on legal and regulatory issues related to IMO distribution, general liability policies, and entity coverage.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to manage contract workflows and mitigate risk.
  • Provide practical solutions for contract-related issues in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of experience in contract law, preferably in-house within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Familiarity with IMO distribution structures, GL policies, and entity coverage requirements.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with CLM systems and contract process optimization is a plus.
