IT Project Manager – Applications & Infrastructure
Overview
A global legal business is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager with strong Infrastructure delivery expertise to join its established Project Delivery team. This role will focus on managing and delivering a range of strategic technology initiatives-spanning core infrastructure upgrades, cloud and platform services, enterprise applications, and operational change. Operating within a complex, fast-paced environment, you will lead cross-functional teams, coordinate external suppliers, and ensure successful end-to-end project execution.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the full project lifecycle across Infrastructure and Application workstreams-from initiation and planning through delivery, testing, deployment, and closure.

Manage internal technical teams, engineering specialists, and third-party suppliers, ensuring clear direction and quality outputs.

Develop and maintain core project documentation including delivery plans, RAID logs, status reports, and financial tracking.

Oversee progress against milestones, budgets, and scope; identify risks, issues, and dependencies with proactive mitigation.

Ensure effective, transparent communication between IT, business services, operations, and vendor teams, maintaining alignment on scope, timelines, and priorities.

Translate technical requirements-particularly around infrastructure and platform change-into clear business language for mixed stakeholder groups.

Coordinate resource allocation, scheduling, procurement activities, and vendor engagement to support delivery.

Lead service transition activities, ensuring infrastructure and application changes are embedded successfully into BAU support with appropriate documentation and knowledge transfer.
Skills & Experience Required

5+ years’ experience delivering end-to-end IT projects, with significant exposure to infrastructure-focused initiatives such as server/network upgrades, cloud migration, virtualisation, storage, identity management, endpoint solutions, or data centre work.

Strong experience managing third-party vendors, hardware/software suppliers, and managed service partners.

Solid understanding of application delivery, software development lifecycles, and integration with infrastructure services.

Strong knowledge of PRINCE2, Agile, and traditional Waterfall methodologies.

Excellent planning, organisation, and risk management skills, with the ability to operate in structured yet flexible environments.

Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities, comfortable working with technical teams, senior business leaders, and external partners.
Desirable:

Experience in professional services or other regulated, client-focused environments.

Background in delivering cloud-based projects (Azure, SaaS, platform consolidation, identity & access management).

Experience working with large-scale outsource partners or managed service providers.
