Accounting Policy Manager

A global specialty (re)insurance group is seeking an Accounting Policy Manager to strengthen its finance organization and support continued growth. This role sits within a high-performing accounting policy and controls function and will focus on shaping how complex transactions and new accounting standards are interpreted and applied across the business.

About the Role

The Accounting Policy Manager will serve as a trusted advisor on complex accounting matters, partnering closely with controllers, finance leadership, and external auditors. The position offers visibility across the enterprise, working on new transactions, process enhancements, and upcoming standard implementations. You’ll play a key role in ensuring the organization maintains strong accounting integrity, control discipline, and technical accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on the accounting implications of new transactions, investments, and strategic initiatives.

  • Research, document, and communicate conclusions on technical accounting issues under US GAAP and statutory accounting frameworks.

  • Lead the assessment and rollout of new accounting standards and reporting requirements.

  • Support the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements.

  • Partner with auditors and cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance.

  • Develop and deliver training on accounting policy updates and evolving guidance.

  • Contribute to internal control processes and SOX compliance initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.

  • 6-12 years of progressive accounting experience, including time in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm experience preferred).

  • Deep understanding of US GAAP; exposure to statutory and/or IFRS frameworks is a plus.

  • Strong technical research skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex guidance clearly.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

Compensation

Estimated total compensation is in the low-to-mid $200K range, depending on experience and location. A competitive package including performance-based incentives and comprehensive benefits is provided.
