Oliver James are delighted to be parterning with one of their key accounts, a specialty insurer and reinsurer, operates primarily from its offices in Florida. With a 35+ year history of underwriting difficult risks, this insurance business is uniquely positioned to take on the most challenging risk protection scenarios facing businesses today. This position will have responsibility for legal issues related to specialty casualty lines of business, with a specific focus on General Liability, Excess Liability, Construction and Environmental Liability, third party property, and professional lines. Responsibilities will also include advising underwriters, interacting with insurance partners and other insurance staff.

Job Overview

  • Review draft and negotiate commercial agreements including program administration agreements, third party administrator agreements, reinsurance treaties, facultative and other insurance policies, and vendor services contracts.
  • Advise on corporate governance, board level matters and strategic partnerships affecting the company’s regulatory position.
  • Engage with state level regulators in the United States and in some foreign jurisdictions relating to eligibility, filings, inquiries, market conduct examination and regulatory initiatives.
  • Provide legal counsel on insurance regulatory matters including claims handling, Medicare requirements and marketing materials.
  • Support underwriting, claims, reinsurance and other insurance distribution channels broadly across US and territories.
  • Assist in overseeing insurance litigation including coverage analysis and disputes for specialty, professional and property lines.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor and Bar Admission in at least one state.
  • Experience: 5+ years in insurance industry.
