Senior System Engineer – Linux & Kubernetes
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time (80-100%)
Location: Zurich – Hybrid
We’ve partnered with one of the leading universities in Zurich that’s advancing its IT infrastructure. They are looking for an experienced Senior System Engineer – Linux to strengthen their platform operations and play a key role in shaping the future of their container and cloud environments.
Your Role
You’ll design, operate, and optimise Linux and Kubernetes systems, ensuring a secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure. Working closely with development teams, you’ll implement automation, improve efficiency, and contribute to the ongoing modernisation of the university’s IT landscape.
Key Focus Areas
- Operate and enhance Kubernetes clusters and container platforms
- Manage Linux (Red Hat) systems and OpenLDAP directories
- Support MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle databases
- Maintain web environments such as WordPress, Adobe AEM, and LAMP stacks
- Automate operations with Bash, Perl, or Python
- Apply Infrastructure-as-Code and DevOps practices
Your Profile
- Completed education or degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Several years of experience as a Linux System Engineer/Administrator, ideally in a Red Hat environment.
- Proven expertise in Kubernetes and container technologies.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, DevOps, and agile working practices.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Bash, Perl, Python).
- Analytical, structured, and solution-oriented mindset.
- High sense of responsibility, ownership, and customer focus.
- Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written.
