Worker’s Compensation Paralegal [Fully Remote]
Our client is a P&C start-up carrier that is looking for a Worker’s Compensation Paralegal who will: assist attorneys and claims personnel by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; research, investigations, fact checking; and legal group litigation reporting. This is a fully remote position.
Job Responsibilities
- Meets with attorneys and claims professionals to discuss assigned projects.
- Drafts legal documents including pleadings, discovery responses, responses to subpoenas, legal correspondence.
- Researches and analyses statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys to assist with legal requests.
- Assists attorneys with document production on subpoenas and litigation matters.
- Develops and maintains reporting on litigated matters.
- Maintains spreadsheet on approved Worker’s Compensation attorneys
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- 5+ years worker’s comp experience
- Worker’s compensation defence
- Westlaw experience
- Drafting experience
- Insurance policies experience [desirable, non-essential]
- Technologically savvy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgement.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Slack, and related software.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required; Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred.
- Paralegal certificate required.
- Worker’s Compensation experience required.
- Previous insurance industry related experience preferred.
Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
