The finance function includes Accounting, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Reporting, and Data teams, providing employees with exposure to a broad range of financial operations.<\/p>\n<h2>Position Overview<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The Staff Accountant will join a growing Accounting &amp; Finance team and play an active role in general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and other accounting functions across a multi-entity environment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of accounting experience and be looking to take the next step in their career by gaining greater ownership of accounting processes and increased exposure to a complex, multi-entity organization.<\/p>\n<h2>Key Responsibilities<\/h2>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger accounts.<\/li>\n<li>Perform monthly account reconciliations and research and resolve discrepancies.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare financial schedules and supporting documentation for financial reporting.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements and internal reporting.<\/li>\n<li>Review accounting activity for accuracy and identify unusual transactions or discrepancies.<\/li>\n<li>Research accounting issues and work with internal departments to resolve them.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and supporting documentation.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash, and other accounting functions as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Support internal controls and accounting process improvement initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation when required.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in ad hoc accounting projects and financial analysis.<\/li>\n<li>Take ownership of assigned accounting responsibilities and meet established deadlines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Qualifications<\/h2>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum 3.5 GPA required.<\/li>\n<li>1-3 years of professional accounting experience.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close.<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.<\/li>\n<li>Strong Excel skills and the ability to work with financial data.<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.<\/li>\n<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Experience within insurance, warranty, automotive, financial services, or another multi-entity environment is a plus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Career Opportunity<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">This position provides an opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to build upon their existing experience while gaining exposure to a complex multi-entity accounting environment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The Staff Accountant will have visibility across multiple areas of the finance organization, including Accounting, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Reporting, and Data. The business isn&#8217;t moving away from the Mainframe &#8211; the focus is on building modern capabilities around and on top of the existing platform, primarily Vantage (DXC). You&#8217;ll be building integrations, an Operational Data Store, event-driven processing, and Generative AI capabilities that sit alongside the Mainframe, not replacing it.<\/p>\n<p> You&#8217;ll contribute to architecture discussions and implement solutions end-to-end, with final design direction provided by the Technical Lead.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Key priorities include:<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Building modern integrations between the Mainframe and AWS.<\/li>\n<li>Developing an Operational Data Store on AWS, primarily sourced from DB2.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting real-time and event-driven processing.<\/li>\n<li>Increasing the use of data and automation around the existing Mainframe environment.<\/li>\n<li>Exploring and integrating Generative AI capabilities, including Amazon Bedrock, RAG models, Human-in-the-Loop capabilities, and AI-driven analysis of Mainframe data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <strong>What we&#8217;re looking for:<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First and foremost, a <strong>strong hands-on engineer<\/strong> who is comfortable working across both legacy and modern environments &#8211; not someone looking for a purely Mainframe role, and not someone who wants to avoid the Mainframe entirely.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strong hands-on Mainframe engineering experience<\/strong> (ideally 5-10+ years), with solid understanding of COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and JCL.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strong Python development experience.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Strong AWS engineering experience, including Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS\/SNS, DynamoDB, and RDS\/Aurora.<\/li>\n<li>Proven experience integrating modern cloud capabilities with legacy\/Mainframe systems &#8211; building CICS web services, REST APIs, and event-driven integrations is highly relevant.<\/li>\n<li>Comfortable understanding complex legacy business logic and translating it into modern integrations and engineering solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with Vantage or similar Mainframe-based annuity policy administration platforms, DB2-to-AWS or near-real-time data integration, Assembler, and\/or Generative AI\/RAG\/Amazon Bedrock is highly desirable.<\/li>\n<li>Curiosity and a willingness to challenge the traditional &#8220;this is how we&#8217;ve always done it&#8221; Along with driving performance of the team, you will be a technical referral point for complex claims, coverage and litigation matters within casualty\/excess casualty.  <\/p>\n<p><strong> Job Requirements. <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>5+ years leadership experience within casualty \/commercial general liability claims (including complex, large loss casualty cases above $1M in value)<\/li>\n<li>Experience with excess casualty claims highly preferred<\/li>\n<li>The ability to drive performance and grow a claims team, including managing Attorneys <\/li>\n<li>Extensive exposure to litigation and coverage investigation essential &#8211; including large loss CGL policies<\/li>\n<li>Experience working closely with Legal\/ Claims Counsel and other internal \/ external teams<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This position must be on a hybrid schedule (3 days in office per week) from NYC, NJ, Chicago, Atlanta or Dallas with an excellent base salary up to $194,000 + 20% annual bonus. Along with driving performance of the team, you will be a technical referral point for complex claims, coverage and litigation matters within casualty\/excess casualty.  <\/p>\n<p><strong> Job Requirements. <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>5+ years leadership experience within casualty \/commercial general liability claims (including complex, large loss casualty cases above $1M in value)<\/li>\n<li>Experience with excess casualty claims highly preferred<\/li>\n<li>The ability to drive performance and grow a claims team, including managing Attorneys <\/li>\n<li>Extensive exposure to litigation and coverage investigation essential &#8211; including large loss CGL policies<\/li>\n<li>Experience working closely with Legal\/ Claims Counsel and other internal \/ external teams<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This position must be on a hybrid schedule (3 days in office per week) from NYC, NJ, Chicago, Atlanta or Dallas with an excellent base salary up to $194,000 + 20% annual bonus. Je signaleert ontwikkelingen, vertaalt deze naar concrete acties en zorgt ervoor dat privacyrisico&#8217;s op de juiste manier worden ge\u00efdentificeerd en beheerst.<\/p>\n<h2>Wat ga je doen?<\/h2>\n<p>Als Beleidsadviseur Privacy ligt jouw belangrijkste aandachtsgebied bij Privacy en de AVG. Je adviseert verschillende onderdelen van de organisatie en draagt bij aan de verdere ontwikkeling en professionalisering van het privacybeleid.<\/p>\n<p>Een belangrijk onderdeel van je werkzaamheden is het begeleiden van <strong>Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA&#8217;s)<\/strong>. Je helpt de organisatie bij het identificeren van privacyrisico&#8217;s, adviseert over passende beheersmaatregelen en zorgt ervoor dat verwerkingen zorgvuldig worden vastgelegd.<\/p>\n<p>Daarnaast houd je je bezig met:<\/p>\n<p>* Begeleiden en uitvoeren van DPIA-trajecten;<br \/>* Adviseren over de toepassing van de AVG en andere relevante wet- en regelgeving;<br \/>* Adviseren over privacy- en integriteitsrisico&#8217;s en passende beheersmaatregelen;<br \/>* Zorgdragen voor een goede vastlegging van gegevensverwerkingen;<br \/>* Regie voeren op de uitvoering en toepassing van privacybeleid;<br \/>* Bijdragen aan het opzetten en verbeteren van relevante sturingsinformatie;<br \/>* Begeleiden van aanpassingen en implementaties van beheersmaatregelen;<br \/>* Signaleren van privacyvraagstukken en knelpunten binnen de organisatie en bijdragen aan concrete oplossingen;<br \/>* Volgen van interne en externe ontwikkelingen binnen het privacydomein en deze vertalen naar de impact voor de organisatie;<br \/>* Stimuleren van kennisdeling en bewustwording rondom privacy en integer handelen.<\/p>\n<p>Je werkzaamheden vinden plaats binnen het zorgverzekeringsdomein. Binnen het team werken verschillende professionals vanuit hun eigen expertise samen aan een goede beheersing van risico&#8217;s op het gebied van toezicht, privacy, wet- en regelgeving.<\/p>\n<p>Er is veel ruimte om inhoudelijk met collega&#8217;s te sparren en gezamenlijk complexe vraagstukken op te pakken. This is a true C-level position where you&#8217;ll be making strategic decisions that might greatly impact the company. The ideal candidate can come from either a Finance or Actuary background, and should bring: <\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Insurance Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Life and annuity experience required.<\/li>\n<li>P&amp;C experience is a big plus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>AM Best<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Having experience with AM Best is crucial to the position<\/li>\n<li>Ideally want someone who:<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Has credibility with AM Best.<\/li>\n<li>Can present effectively to rating agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrates strong leadership and governance.<\/li>\n<li>Can help elevate organizational structure and controls.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reporting &amp; Systems<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong statutory reporting background.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with GAIN accounting statement software is highly desirable.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with NetSuite is preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Interest in candidates who understand:<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>AI applications within NetSuite.<\/li>\n<li>Process automation opportunities within accounting and finance functions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Leadership<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Seeking someone who can:<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead an organization.<\/li>\n<li>Build confidence with regulators and rating agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Establish structure and accountability.<\/li>\n<li>Elevate the finance function.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>My client is based in Alabama, about an hour south of Montgomery.
