Reporting directly to the CFO, this role offers strong executive exposure and the opportunity to strengthen financial processes, improve controls and support the continued development of the business.<\/p>\n<h2>Key Responsibilities<\/h2>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>\n<p>Oversee monthly and quarterly close processes across US GAAP and statutory accounting.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Lead NAIC statutory reporting, including quarterly and annual Blue Book filings.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Coordinate annual statutory audits and support external auditors.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Prepare management and Board reporting, budgeting and forecasting.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Partner with investment, actuarial, tax and other teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Strengthen internal controls, improve processes and drive expense efficiency.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Support new product implementation and supervise the development of the accounting team.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Candidate Profile<\/h2>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>\n<p>10+ years of insurance industry experience, ideally in a Corporate Controller, Assistant Controller or equivalent leadership role.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Background in life insurance and annuity products preferred.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Strong knowledge of NAIC regulations and US statutory accounting.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience coordinating audits and working across US GAAP and statutory reporting.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Hands-on experience with general ledger systems and system implementations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Comfortable operating in a growing, entrepreneurial environment and improving processes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance accounting leader to work closely with the CFO, take ownership of core financial reporting activities and help build a scalable finance function.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, please reach out to Chris Dodds at Oliver James.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/counter.adcourier.com\/Q2hyaXMuRG9kZHMuODA3OTQuMTEzMDlAb2xpdmVyamFtZXNhc3NvY2lhdGVzLmFwbGl0cmFrLmNvbQ.gif\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Corporate Controller Location: Stamford, CT | Flexible hybrid workingCompensation: $200,000-$250,000 base and bonus package The Opportunity A growing life and annuity insurance business is seeking a Corporate Controller to oversee its accounting, financial reporting and regulatory filings. accounting or financial reporting within life insurance, life reinsurance or a related financial services environment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>CPA qualification strongly preferred and considered essential.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, with demonstrable experience preparing, reviewing or overseeing complex financial statements.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience working with a significant balance sheet within a regulated financial services organization.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Exposure to life reinsurance accounting, including flow or block transactions, is The work centres on Clearwater Analytics: making sure investment data flows cleanly from source to subledger to general ledger to final report. You’ll find where the data breaks and fix the cause, and build repeatable, automated controls in place of manual effort.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Please note: hands-on Clearwater Analytics experience is essential for this role. We can only consider applicants who have worked directly in Clearwater.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>What you’ll do<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Own investment data quality in Clearwater, covering data validation, attribute and entity mappings, and the business rules that feed downstream finance reporting.<\/li>\n<li>Design and run reconciliations from general ledger to investment subledger to report, and between other systems (for example IBOR, ABOR and SBOR). Investigate variances, find the root causes and resolve breaks before they reach the close.<\/li>\n<li>Find and deliver process improvements and transformation work across the reporting cycle, including better data flows, fewer exceptions and less manual effort.<\/li>\n<li>Build and improve reporting and data models in Power BI and SSAS, and explore AI and agent-based tools that make review and exception handling more efficient.<\/li>\n<li>Research and resolve data and operational exceptions, including daily transaction processing issues, and fix the cause so the same break doesn’t come back.<\/li>\n<li>Work with Finance, Investments, Operations, ALM, Risk, Technology and external service providers on recurring deliverables and change initiatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Essential requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li><strong>Clearwater Analytics (mandatory):<\/strong> 3-5 years of hands-on experience working directly in Clearwater, ideally covering data validation, reconciliations and reporting for an insurance investment portfolio. Experience with other investment accounting platforms alone will not be sufficient.<\/li>\n<li>A strong data background, including data mapping, transformation logic, data quality rules, lineage and reconciliation design across investment systems.<\/li>\n<li>Proven experience automating or redesigning finance processes, such as building repeatable validation checks, cutting manual close effort or improving reporting workflows.<\/li>\n<li>Advanced Excel skills.
