Location: White Plains, NY (Hybrid)

About the Role
A growing specialty insurance group is seeking an Accounting Manager of Financial Reporting to oversee financial reporting, regulatory filings, and the integrity of the company’s books and records across multiple entities. Reporting to the AVP of Financial Reporting, this individual will play a key leadership role in managing accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data, and supporting audits and compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and analyze quarterly and annual financial statements under GAAP and IFRS to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.

  • Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and related regulatory filings for insurance entities.

  • Manage key accounting processes, including month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations.

  • Oversee lease accounting across all entities, ensuring accuracy of subledger data and related entries.

  • Manage the bank reconciliation process and general ledger accounting functions.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the general ledger structure to support reporting and analysis.

  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors on SOX compliance, control testing, and audit requests.

  • Identify, document, and implement process improvements to streamline reporting and enhance efficiency.

  • Prepare and review supporting schedules, ad hoc analyses, and special project deliverables as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

  • CPA strongly preferred; public accounting experience a plus.

  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on financial reporting.

  • Proven leadership ability and commitment to accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.

  • Experience in a SOX 404 or JSOX control environment preferred.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills.

  • Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Compensation
Base salary range: $120,000 – $150,000, commensurate with experience, location, and internal equity.

Work Model
Hybrid role with regular in-office presence expected in White Plains, NY.
