This role combines day-to-day transactional legal work with meaningful engagement across the specialty insurance business and requires a trusted advisor who can partner effectively with underwriting, reinsurance, claims, finance, and other internal stakeholders. This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution within a growing organization and to help support the continued development of Ascot U.S.the business. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve as a legal partner to insurance and reinsurance businesses, including ceded and captive reinsurance, programs, and claims operations, while supporting underwriting, finance, operations, and other internal stakeholders as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including producer and distribution agreements, TOBAs, vendor contracts, NDAs, employment agreements, office leases, IT procurement agreements, statements of work, and other third-party arrangements.<\/li>\n<li>Review and negotiate reinsurance agreements and related documentation, including captive reinsurance transactions, treaty and facultative placements, slip terms, loss portfolio transfers, and other supporting materials.<\/li>\n<li>Support the programs business by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating program administrator agreements, fronting arrangements, profit commission schedules, and related distribution agreements.<\/li>\n<li>Advise claims leadership on coverage issues, claims-related contractual matters, and dispute resolution, including coordination with outside counsel on litigation and arbitration matters as appropriate.<\/li>\n<li>Partner with the U.S. General Counsel, Senior Corporate Counsel, and other senior leaders on complex strategic and commercial transactions.<\/li>\n<li>Manage outside counsel relationships, engagements, and legal spend effectively.<\/li>\n<li>Work closely with the Controller and CFO teams to support finance-related matters, including investments, auditor interactions, and capital markets activity such as debt issuance or capital raising, as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with other members of the Legal team on legal, regulatory, compliance, corporate governance, and other matters supported by the U.S. Corporate Legal function.<\/li>\n<li>Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Juris Doctor required.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of five years of legal experience in a law firm and\/or relevant in-house legal role.<\/li>\n<li>At least three years of experience in the insurance industry, either in-house at an insurance or reinsurance company or in private practice serving insurance and financial services clients.<\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of commercial insurance and reinsurance concepts, including distribution, risk-sharing, ceded reinsurance structures, and intercompany contracting; experience in property and casualty or speciality property and casualty insurance is strongly preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating reinsurance agreements, program administration agreements, and\/or insurance coverage matters.<\/li>\n<li>Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and drive matters to completion.<\/li>\n<li>Commercially minded and results-oriented, with the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives and deliver practical solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Admitted to practice law in a relevant state jurisdiction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If interested, please apply for a confidential conversation today!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/counter.adcourier.com\/RGVjbGFuLkZyaXRoLjYxMTI4LjExMzA5QG9saXZlcmphbWVzYXNzb2NpYXRlcy5hcGxpdHJhay5jb20.gif\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Corporate Insurance, Corporate Lawyer , Corporate, Corporate Attorney, Corporate Policy<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"jobrelay_source":[1247,1248],"discipline":[23],"industry":[],"contract_type":[1225],"vacancy_type":[1274],"work_type":[],"location":[1310],"class_list":["post-12190","job","type-job","status-publish","hentry","discipline-legal","location-new-york"],"acf":{"job_reference":"JOB-072026-311708_1785525484","job_type":"Permanent","job_industry":"Legal","working_arrangement":"","featured":"","start_date":"","expiry_date":"2026-08-28","salary_currency":"USD","salary_from":"175000","salary_to":"215000","salary_per":"annum","salary_benefits":"bonus, benefits, hybrid","salary":"US$175000 - US$215000 per annum + bonus, benefits, hybrid","custom_data":"","application_email":"Declan.Frith.61128.11309@oliverjamesassociates.aplitrak.com","application_url":"https:\/\/www.aplitrak.com\/?adid=RGVjbGFuLkZyaXRoLjYxMTI4LjExMzA5QG9saXZlcmphbWVzYXNzb2NpYXRlcy5hcGxpdHJhay5jb20","contact_name":"Declan Frith","contact_email":"Declan.Frith@oliverjames.com","contact_telephone":"+1 646 398 6901","contact_url":"","company_name":"","company_tagline":"","company_website":"","company_twitter":"","company_logo":"","company_video":"","job_location":"New York","job_location_raw":"N.
