The Opportunity<\/h2>\n

Oliver James are seeking a VP, Finance Transformation & Strategic Initiatives to lead the evolution of Finance within a growing life insurance \/ annuity platform.<\/p>\n

This is a high-impact role working directly with the CFO and senior leadership to transform Finance across reporting, systems, data, controls and operating processes.<\/p>\n

You’ll own the transformation agenda and lead strategic initiatives across Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, Investments, Treasury and Technology.<\/p>\n

The Role<\/h2>\n
    \n
  • Own and execute the Finance transformation roadmap.<\/li>\n
  • Lead major Finance, accounting and reporting transformation initiatives.<\/li>\n
  • Modernize GL, reporting, data and Finance systems.<\/li>\n
  • Drive automation, process redesign and scalable Finance infrastructure.<\/li>\n
  • Partner across Accounting, FP&A, Actuarial, Investments and Operations.<\/li>\n
  • Lead complex projects from strategy through implementation.<\/li>\n
  • Advise the CFO and executive team on transformation and strategic initiatives.<\/li>\n
  • Support M&A, reinsurance transactions, integrations and new business initiatives.<\/li>\n
  • Improve Finance controls, data quality, reporting and scalability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Ideal Profile<\/h2>\n
      \n
    • 12+ years across Finance, Accounting, Consulting or Transformation roles.<\/li>\n
    • Proven track record delivering large-scale Finance transformation.<\/li>\n
    • Strong understanding of life insurance, annuities and\/or reinsurance.<\/li>\n
    • Deep knowledge of Finance processes, systems, data and reporting.<\/li>\n
    • Experience leading ERP, automation, data or reporting transformations.<\/li>\n
    • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence across functions.<\/li>\n
    • CPA, CFA, MBA or equivalent a plus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

insurance\/reinsurance experience preferred<\/li>\n<li>Strong financial reporting and accounting knowledge<\/li>\n<li>Experience with reinsurance accounting and recoverables<\/li>\n<li>Advanced Excel journal entries, reconciliations and reporting schedules<\/li>\n<li>Support external reporting and earnings analysis<\/li>\n<li>Analyze results and explain key business drivers<\/li>\n<li>Account for ceded and assumed life & annuity reinsurance<\/li>\n<li>Partner with Actuarial, Investment Accounting and Reinsurance teams<\/li>\n<li>Support new accounting implementations, integrations and strategic projects<\/li>\n<li>Strengthen controls and improve accounting\/reporting processes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What We’re Looking For<\/h3>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA\/MBA a plus<\/li>\n<li>4+ years of accounting or financial services experience<\/li>\n<li>Life & annuity insurance\/reinsurance experience preferred<\/li>\n<li>Strong financial reporting and accounting knowledge<\/li>\n<li>Experience with reinsurance accounting<\/li>\n<li>Advanced Excel and financial systems skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong analytical, communication and strategic priorities.<\/li>\n<li>Lead major Finance transformation and technology initiatives from strategy through execution.<\/li>\n<li>Drive process improvement, automation and operating model redesign.<\/li>\n<li>Modernize Finance systems, reporting and data infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li>Partner across Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Actuarial, Investments and Technology.<\/li>\n<li>Establish strong project governance, manage risks and deliver measurable results.<\/li>\n<li>Advise the CFO and executive leadership on major initiatives and investment decisions.<\/li>\n<li>Support M&A, integrations, reinsurance transactions and other strategic projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Ideal Profile<\/h2>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>12+ years across Finance, Accounting, Consulting, Transformation or Financial Services.<\/li>\n<li>Proven experience leading large-scale Finance transformation.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in the life\/annuities insurance industry is HIGHLY desirable. <\/li>\n<li>Strong Finance + technology \/ systems \/ data understanding.<\/li>\n<li>Comfortable operating with C-suite stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Insurance, reinsurance or broader financial services experience preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with ERP, reporting, automation or data transformation strongly preferred.<\/li>\n<li>CPA, CFA, MBA or equivalent a plus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Please The team is looking for engineers who are comfortable challenging assumptions, influencing technical direction, and working effectively with external delivery partners.<\/p>\n<h2>What You’ll Do<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Design, build, and own scalable applications and platform services using <strong>C#, AWS, APIs, GraphQL, and relational databases<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Develop highly event-driven systems supporting complex business workflows<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Work across either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Functional Engineering:<\/strong> owning the application layer and services for a specific business domain such as Claims or Underwriting<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Platform Engineering:<\/strong> building shared capabilities across data ingestion, backend services, infrastructure, database design, and GraphQL<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Make and defend architectural decisions during technical design discussions<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Partner with external vendors while ensuring solutions align with the organization’s target architecture<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Push back constructively when proposed solutions do not meet engineering standards<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What We’re Looking For<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Strong professional software engineering experience with <strong>C#<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Hands-on experience building solutions in <strong>AWS<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience with <strong>React<\/strong> and modern application architectures<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience with relational databases and data modeling<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Exposure to GraphQL is highly preferred<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Strong system design and architectural decision-making skills<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience working with or managing external vendors, consulting firms, or offshore engineering teams<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Ability to confidently challenge technical decisions and communicate alternative approaches<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Ideal Background<\/h2>\n<p>You’ll be successful in this role if you’ve previously owned meaningful portions of an enterprise system, made architecture decisions, and worked in environments where you were expected to explain and defend your technical approach.<\/p>\n<p>This is not a role for someone who simply executes predefined requirements.
