**Tech Lead (Backend) – Agency Applications | 12-Month Contract (Renewable)**<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are looking for a hands-on Tech Lead to join a group-level digital transformation project<\/strong> focused on insurance agency applications. The solution will be implemented across multiple countries in Asia<\/strong>. This is a balanced role – approximately 50% hands-on coding and 50% technical leadership & stakeholder management<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Key Resp<\/strong>onsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

**Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Management**<\/strong>
– Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs for agency applications
– Drive technical solutioning and architecture decisions in collaboration with business, product, and other technology stakeholders across markets
– Define and enforce backend architecture standards, coding standards, and development best practices
– Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and provide technical mentoring to the development team
– Identify and mitigate technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities
– Act as the technical point of contact, managing expectations and communicating progress clearly with regional stakeholders<\/p>\n

**Hands-on Development**<\/strong>
– Design and develop enterprise-grade applications using Java technologies
– Build and maintain microservices-based architectures supporting insurance agency business processes
– Design RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations with internal and external systems
– Optimize application performance and database operations for large-scale transaction processing
– Ensure solutions meet scalability, reliability, security, and regulatory compliance requirements across markets<\/p>\n

**Database & Integration**<\/strong>
– Design and manage MongoDB data models, collections, indexing strategies, and performance tuning
– Integrate with policy administration systems, CRM platforms, payment gateways, customer portals, and third-party insurance services<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

– 6+ years of software engineering experience with Java enterprise applications
– 3+ years of experience in a Technical Lead or Team Lead capacity
– Strong hands-on experience with **Java** and **MongoDB**<\/strong>
– Proven project experience in the **Insurance** industry (digital transformation or agency digital projects highly preferred)<\/strong>
– Experience delivering large-scale backend systems in regulated environments
– Strong experience working in Agile\/Scrum environments
– Solid stakeholder management skills – able to work effectively with business and technology teams across regions
– Fluent English<\/strong> communication skills (spoken and written); Cantonese is a strong advantage<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

and ready to move into live BAU service.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">You’ll be working across the programme, IT Service Management, technology teams and suppliers to put the right support model in place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><strong>You’ll be involved in:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Defining L1\/L2\/L3 support and escalation routes<\/li>\n<li>Agreeing support hours, SLAs and supplier responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>Making sure monitoring and operational processes are in place<\/li>\n<li>Planning knowledge transfer from the programme into BAU<\/li>\n<li>Supporting go-live, early life support and the move into steady-state<\/li>\n<li>Defining what capability needs to remain in-house<\/li>\n<li>Working with suppliers around handover and transition<\/li>\n<li>Making sure the service is genuinely ready to operate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><strong>What I’m looking for:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Strong experience in Service Design and\/or Service Transition<\/li>\n<li>Experience taking a major platform or transformation into BAU<\/li>\n<li>Good understanding of ITSM \/ ITIL<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with managed service providers and suppliers<\/li>\n<li>Strong stakeholder management skills<\/li>\n<li>Dynamics 365 \/ Power Platform experience would be a The successful candidate will advise business stakeholders and serve as a key legal resource on matters supporting group health and life insurance operations.<\/p>\n<h2>Key Responsibilities<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve as a primary legal resource for ERISA and employee benefits matters.<\/li>\n<li>Advise internal business partners on employee benefits and group health and life insurance issues.<\/li>\n<li>Provide practical legal guidance supporting insurance operations.<\/li>\n<li>Support matters involving insurance policy forms, agent agreements, and operational contracts.<\/li>\n<li>Partner with underwriting and other business teams on legal and regulatory considerations.<\/li>\n<li>Translate complex ERISA and benefits requirements into practical business advice.<\/li>\n<li>Support corporate transactions and M&A matters as needed; transactional work will be an occasional component rather than a primary responsibility.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with the broader legal team and business leadership on strategic and operational matters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Qualifications<\/h2>\n<h3>Required<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Juris Doctor (JD).<\/li>\n<li>Strong experience in <strong>ERISA and employee benefits law<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to independently analyze complex legal issues and provide practical, commercially focused advice.<\/li>\n<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Preferred<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In-house legal experience within an <strong>insurance company<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Experience supporting a <strong>group health and\/or life insurance business<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with insurance operations, including policy form preparation, agent contracts, underwriting, and related business processes.<\/li>\n<li>Experience advising internal business teams in a regulated insurance environment.<\/li>\n<li>Corporate transactions and M&A experience is a plus, but is <strong>not required<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Ideal Candidate<\/h2>\n<p>The ideal candidate will bring deep ERISA and employee benefits expertise combined with an understanding of how an insurance business operates.
