With a strong focus on developing into the HNW Wealth Management space, a Business Legal &amp; Compliance Advisory role has arisen to in the CEO Office, based in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>The key responsibilities for this position are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<li>Part of the CEO Office, providing Legal &amp; Compliance advisory and execution support on CEO priorities, business strategy, and development initiatives, including special projects driving the expansion of the International HNW business.<\/li>\n<li>Act as a trusted Legal &amp; Compliance Business Advisor, supporting senior stakeholders by translating regulatory requirements into practical, commercially sound guidance aligned with business objectives and Group Risk &amp; Compliance strategy.<\/li>\n<li>Design, implement and continuously enhance the Legal &amp; Compliance framework from a first line perspective, with a focus on regulatory, investment advisory, and sales\/market conduct requirements, ensuring alignment with evolving legal obligations and strategic business priorities.<\/li>\n<li>Lead legal and compliance risk assessments for strategic initiatives and special projects, partnering with senior leadership and governance forums to identify, evaluate, and mitigate regulatory, legal, ethical, and emerging risks.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and maintain policies, standards, and procedures that embed legal and compliance principles into business decision-making, while ensuring effective implementation of corporate governance frameworks.<\/li>\n<li>Provide hands-on advisory support across business compliance, financial crime (AML\/CDD\/KYC), and operational risk, offering pragmatic legal and compliance guidance to enable business growth within appropriate risk appetite.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee key governance and control frameworks, including third-party risk management, business continuity, and operational resilience, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and best practice.<\/li>\n<li>Provide responses to regulatory inquiries from the business&#8217;s perspectives, supporting regulatory engagement strategies and ensuring consistent, transparent communication in line with established protocols.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate closely with other business stakeholders, interpreting legal and regulatory requirements and supporting effective implementation through advisory, training, and capability building across the organisation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Successful applicants will have the following skills and experience:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree holder with 15+ years experience in legal or compliance advisory gained from the Insurance, International Brokers, Private Banking and \/ or HNW \/ UHNW Wealth Management sectors<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Bermuda insurance regulations and laws is highly preferred<\/li>\n<li>Experience in establishing new entities, new markets, new business, new products, from a legal and compliance involvement would be beneficial<\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of the Insurance business preferred, other experience in relevant areas such as Wealth Management \/ HNW and \/ or Private Banking would also be considered<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure, organized, detail-oriented and analytical.<\/li>\n<li>Strong business acumen with effective change management, problem solving and decision making skills<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills in English, fluency in Cantonese and \/ or Mandarin would be The position offers exposure to complex transactions, executive-level reporting, and strategic initiatives across U.S., Bermuda, and Cayman insurance entities.<\/p>\n<h3>The Role<\/h3>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>\n<p>Lead financial analysis across business performance, profitability, capital allocation, and strategic growth initiatives.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Build and enhance integrated three-statement financial models for forecasting, valuation, long-term planning, and capital management.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Support enterprise-wide financial projections, translating financial, actuarial, investment, and capital data into actionable insights.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Prepare executive presentations, board materials, and financial reporting for senior leadership and external stakeholders.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Partner with investments, actuarial, treasury, accounting, and corporate development on M&amp;A, reinsurance transactions, and other strategic initiatives.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Enhance FP&amp;A reporting, data infrastructure, and automation, including opportunities to leverage Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Independently lead complex, cross-functional projects while providing technical guidance to junior team members.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What We&#8217;re Looking For<\/h3>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>\n<p>8+ years of experience across FP&amp;A, corporate finance, insurance finance, actuarial, valuation, or a related discipline.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Life insurance and annuity industry experience, ideally with exposure to financial statements, capital management, reinsurance, and forecasting.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and quantitative analysis skills, with advanced Excel proficiency.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience presenting financial insights and recommendations to senior executives and other key stakeholders.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, SQL, or similar data platforms is advantageous.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a related field. Reporting:<\/strong> Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance, coordinating the preparation and timely filing of returns, supporting schedules, and related documentation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Tax Accounting:<\/strong> Manage income tax accounting under GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), including tax provision calculations and related financial reporting.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Insurance Regulatory Taxes:<\/strong> Oversee insurance-related tax filings, payments, and regulatory obligations, including premium taxes, guaranty fund assessments, retaliatory taxes, licensing fees, and other state-specific requirements.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Technical Tax Research:<\/strong> Research complex federal, state, and local tax matters, evaluate regulatory and legislative developments, and communicate recommendations to senior management.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Tax Planning &amp; Strategy:<\/strong> Partner with the CFO and senior leadership on tax planning opportunities, business initiatives, cash tax requirements, and special projects.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Audit &amp; Examination Management:<\/strong> Coordinate responses to tax examinations and audits, serving as a key liaison with external advisors, auditors, insurance regulators, and tax authorities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Process Improvement:<\/strong> Evaluate existing tax processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and potentially bring select tax compliance activities in-house.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Transfer Pricing &amp; Intercompany Arrangements:<\/strong> Review and maintain transfer pricing policies, management fee arrangements, and supporting documentation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Cross-Functional Collaboration:<\/strong> Work closely with accounting, finance, legal, HR, regulatory, and operational teams on tax-related matters.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong>Team Leadership:<\/strong> Supervise and develop tax personnel, providing day-to-day direction, coaching, and oversight of compliance deadlines and regulatory filings.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Qualifications<\/h2>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>\n<p>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Accounting or a related field; an accounting degree is required.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>CPA, Master&#8217;s in Taxation (MST), or other advanced tax credentials preferred.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>5-10 years of progressive tax experience.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations, including multi-state compliance.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience with income tax accounting under GAAP; across multiple asset classes with people leadership, process improvement and strategic initiatives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The opportunity<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>\n<p>Lead investment compliance monitoring across pre-trade, post-trade and batch processes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Oversee the interpretation and application of investment guidelines, portfolio restrictions and compliance requirements.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, improve monitoring processes and optimize compliance rules.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Partner with investment professionals, trading, legal, risk and operations teams to resolve complex issues and support business objectives.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Drive automation, data-led improvements and emerging AI-enabled solutions.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Develop and mentor a team, setting clear objectives and building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Support governance, regulatory changes, audit readiness and the evolution of the wider monitoring framework.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What we&#8217;re looking for<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>\n<p>Direct experience in <strong>Investment Compliance<\/strong>, ideally within an asset manager or a buy-side investment environment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Strong knowledge of investment guidelines, portfolio restrictions and monitoring processes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience leading, developing and motivating a team.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>A track record of improving processes, strengthening controls or supporting transformation initiatives.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience with Charles River, Aladdin or a comparable investment compliance\/order management platform is beneficial.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This role would suit someone who enjoys combining technical investment compliance expertise with hands-on leadership, while helping a team develop and adapt as the
