[{"id":16231,"date":"2026-11-03T16:00:55","date_gmt":"2026-11-03T16:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oliverjames.com\/jobs\/senior-accountant-insurance\/"},"modified":"2026-11-03T16:01:03","modified_gmt":"2026-11-03T16:01:03","slug":"senior-accountant-insurance-16231","status":"publish","type":"job","link":"https:\/\/www.oliverjames.com\/nl\/jobs\/senior-accountant-insurance-16231\/","title":{"rendered":"Senior Accountant &#8211; Insurance"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a rapidly growing life insurance business that is continuing to gain significant market share and expand its annuity platform.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>With ambitious growth plans and an expanding portfolio of life insurance entities, the business is investing in its finance function and looking to appoint a Senior Accountant who wants to be part of that journey.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support financial statements preparations.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare journal entries and perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations.<\/li>\n<li>Support external audits and statutory examinations.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain and enhance internal controls and financial reporting processes.<\/li>\n<li>Analyse financial results, investigate variances and identify opportunities to improve reporting.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with management reporting, ad hoc analysis and wider finance projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.<\/li>\n<li>3+ years of accounting experience within the insurance industry, either in an insurance company or public accounting.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with US GAAP and statutory accounting principles is highly regarded.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with ERP\/accounting systems.<\/li>\n<li>Strong technical, analytical and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Compensation:<\/strong> $90,000-$140,000 base salary, depending on experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Working arrangement:<\/strong> Hybrid, with 2-3 days per week in the office. You&#8217;ll work directly with senior bankers on buy-side and sell-side M&amp;A for strategic and private equity-backed clients, along with capital raising and broader strategic advisory work.<\/p>\n<p>This is an execution-heavy seat. The team needs someone who can step in and run a process from day one: modelling and valuation, marketing materials, buyer outreach, diligence and getting deals to close.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What they&#8217;re looking for<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Current Associate (or a strong senior Analyst close to promotion) in FIG or insurance investment banking at a bulge bracket bank or an insurance-focused boutique<\/li>\n<li>Hands-on experience running both buy-side and sell-side M&amp;A processes<\/li>\n<li>Deal experience in insurance distribution, brokerage, MGAs or insurance services is a big plus. The ideal candidate will possess both strong technical tax knowledge and the ability to independently manage projects, interact with business partners, and take ownership of key deliverables.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>5-8+ years of corporate tax experience, preferably with a Big 4 accounting firm, national tax practice, insurance company, or large financial services organization.<\/li>\n<li>Strong background in corporate federal income taxation, ASC 740 tax accounting, tax compliance, and quarterly and annual tax provision processes.<\/li>\n<li>Experience researching and documenting technical tax positions and communicating conclusions to management.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to manage projects, coordinate with external advisors, and balance multiple deadlines.<\/li>\n<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with all levels of an organization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Highly Preferred Insurance Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Direct experience with life insurance company taxation.<\/li>\n<li>Experience preparing or reviewing insurance company tax provisions and deferred tax analyses.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with statutory accounting principles, including SSAP 101 deferred tax accounting and statutory reporting requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of insurance-specific tax concepts, including tax reserves, life\/non-life consolidated return rules, DAC tax considerations, and insurance company filing requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Experience evaluating reserve changes and their impact on current and deferred taxes.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with statutory financial reporting and insurance regulatory environments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/counter.adcourier.com\/TWF4LkNvdXJ0bmFnZS40NzA3OC4xMTMwOUBvbGl2ZXJqYW1lc2Fzc29jaWF0ZXMuYXBsaXRyYWsuY29t.gif\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Senior Tax Consultant &#8211; Fully remote &#8211; $100 &#8211; $125 per hour &#8211; 6 month contract I&#8217;m looking for an experienced tax professional at the Senior Associate to Manager level who can quickly contribute in a complex insurance company environment. Hierbij worden financi\u00eble processen en activiteiten overgedragen aan een externe dienstverlener.<\/p>\n<p> Binnen het Finance-team krijg je de kans om een belangrijke bijdrage te leveren aan zowel de dagelijkse financi\u00eble operatie als de inrichting en optimalisatie van toekomstige accountingprocessen.<\/p>\n<h2>Wat ga je doen?<\/h2>\n<p>In deze veelzijdige functie combineer je Financial Accounting met Business &amp; Process Analysis. Je werkzaamheden zijn verdeeld over twee belangrijke onderdelen.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Financial Accounting &amp; Operations (50%)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uitvoeren en analyseren van dagelijkse financi\u00eble reconciliaties. <\/li>\n<li>Controleren en verwerken van settlements en betalingsstromen. <\/li>\n<li>Signaleren en onderzoeken van verschillen in financi\u00eble boekingen. <\/li>\n<li>Waarborgen van de juistheid en volledigheid van financi\u00eble transacties. <\/li>\n<li>Ondersteunen van de dagelijkse accountingactiviteiten binnen het Finance-team. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Business &amp; Process Analysis (50%)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Begeleiden van de overgang van financi\u00eble accountingprocessen naar een externe dienstverlener. <\/li>\n<li>In kaart brengen en vergelijken van bestaande en toekomstige accountingstructuren. <\/li>\n<li>Analyseren van betalingsstromen, boekingsgangen en reconciliatieprocessen. <\/li>\n<li>Kritisch beoordelen van nieuwe procesinrichtingen en adviseren over verbeteringen. <\/li>\n<li>Meewerken aan de inrichting en implementatie van financi\u00eble controles, werkinstructies en boekingsprocessen. <\/li>\n<li>Samenwerken met verschillende stakeholders binnen Finance, Operations en externe partijen. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Wat breng je mee?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Een afgeronde hbo- of wo-opleiding in Finance, Accounting of een vergelijkbare richting. <\/li>\n<li>Circa 5 jaar relevante werkervaring binnen Financial Accounting, Finance Operations of een vergelijkbare functie. <\/li>\n<li>Aantoonbare ervaring met reconciliaties, settlements en betalingsverkeer. <\/li>\n<li>Bij voorkeur ervaring binnen de financi\u00eble dienstverlening of het betalingsverkeer. <\/li>\n<li>Ervaring met procesanalyse, procesmapping of financi\u00eble transformatieprojecten. <\/li>\n<li>Ervaring met migraties, implementaties of outsourcingtrajecten is een sterke pr\u00e9. <\/li>\n<li>Uitstekende beheersing van de Nederlandse taal. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Je bent analytisch sterk, nauwkeurig en kritisch. Hierbij worden financi\u00eble processen en activiteiten overgedragen aan een externe dienstverlener.<\/p>\n<p>Binnen het Finance-team krijg je de kans om een belangrijke bijdrage te leveren aan zowel de dagelijkse financi\u00eble operatie als de inrichting en optimalisatie van toekomstige accountingprocessen.<\/p>\n<h2>Wat ga je doen?<\/h2>\n<p>In deze veelzijdige functie combineer je Financial Accounting met Business &amp; Process Analysis. Je werkzaamheden zijn verdeeld over twee belangrijke onderdelen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Financial Accounting &amp; Operations (50%)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>\n<p>Uitvoeren en analyseren van dagelijkse financi\u00eble reconciliaties.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Controleren en verwerken van settlements en betalingsstromen.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Signaleren en onderzoeken van verschillen in financi\u00eble boekingen.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Waarborgen van de juistheid en volledigheid van financi\u00eble transacties.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Ondersteunen van de dagelijkse accountingactiviteiten binnen het Finance-team.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Business &amp; Process Analysis (50%)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>\n<p>Begeleiden van de overgang van financi\u00eble accountingprocessen naar een externe dienstverlener.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>In kaart brengen en vergelijken van bestaande en toekomstige accountingstructuren.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Analyseren van betalingsstromen, boekingsgangen en reconciliatieprocessen.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Kritisch beoordelen van nieuwe procesinrichtingen en adviseren over verbeteringen.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Meewerken aan de inrichting en implementatie van financi\u00eble controles, werkinstructies en boekingsprocessen.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Samenwerken met verschillende stakeholders binnen Finance, Operations en externe partijen.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Wat breng je mee?<\/h2>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>\n<p>Een afgeronde hbo- of wo-opleiding in Finance, Accounting of een vergelijkbare richting.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Circa 5 jaar relevante werkervaring binnen Financial Accounting, Finance Operations of een vergelijkbare functie.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Aantoonbare ervaring met reconciliaties, settlements en betalingsverkeer.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Bij voorkeur ervaring binnen de financi\u00eble dienstverlening of het betalingsverkeer.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Ervaring met procesanalyse, procesmapping of financi\u00eble transformatieprojecten.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Ervaring met migraties, implementaties of outsourcingtrajecten is een sterke pr\u00e9.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Uitstekende beheersing van de Nederlandse taal.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Je bent analytisch sterk, nauwkeurig en kritisch.
