Litigation Claims Counsel – Commercial General Liability<\/span><\/h1>\n

Location: Westchester, New York (2 days per week in office only)<\/strong><\/p>\n

An established insurance legal team is seeking an experienced Litigation Claims Counsel <\/strong>to join its growing in-house legal practice in New York. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced attorney to manage complex commercial litigation matters, take ownership of a varied caseload and play a key role in driving cases through to trial and resolution. Cases will be focused on Commercial General Liability, Construction and New York Labor Law claims. We can consider Attorneys who are currently working in-house at an insurer or at an insurance defense law firm. <\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Manage complex insurance defense matters from inception through trial and resolution.<\/li>\n
  • Handle complex litigation for commercial general liability, construction and NYLL cases <\/li>\n
  • Develop litigation strategies and oversee all aspects of case preparation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions and expert witnesses.<\/li>\n
  • Act as first-chair trial attorney in state and federal courts.<\/li>\n
  • Advise on settlement strategy, exposure and litigation risk.<\/li>\n
  • Manage relationships with claims professionals and other key stakeholders.<\/li>\n
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to more junior attorneys.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Experience & Requirements<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • JD and admission to the New York State Bar.<\/li>\n
    • 10+ years of insurance defense or relevant litigation experience.<\/li>\n
    • Strong knowledge of Commercial General Liability, Construction and New York Labor Law <\/li>\n
    • Experience handling contractual indemnification disputes.<\/li>\n
    • Proven first-chair trial experience.<\/li>\n
    • Strong deposition, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills.<\/li>\n
    • Ability to independently manage a complex caseload and drive matters to successful resolution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      This role must be based from their Westchester NY office 2 days per week, with 3 days fully remote. They are offering an excellent base salary up to $225,000 + 30% annual bonus potential. This is a fantastic in-house legal opportunity with a market leading insurance organisation. <\/p>\n

Alongside people leadership, you will drive the technical and operational strategy for the group, lead change initiatives and act as the senior sign-off point for major loss claims and complex coverage\/ litigation matters. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Skills \/ Qualifications Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>7+ years’ experience leading worker’s compensation claims teams, including managing other leaders <strong>(please note we can only consider leaders that have experience managing other leaders).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Strong strategic and change management experience.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent technical knowledge of workers compensation claims, including large losses and litigated cases.<\/li>\n<li>Experience managing TPA strategy and key vendor relationships.<\/li>\n<li>Strong knowledge of worker’s compensation policy wording and regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Adjuster licenses in multiple states.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>This role is FULLY REMOTE, offering up to $195,000 base salary, a 25% bonus and benefits. Alongside people leadership, you will drive the technical and operational strategy for the group, lead change initiatives and act as the senior sign-off point for major loss claims and complex coverage\/ litigation matters. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Skills \/ Qualifications Required:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>7+ years’ experience leading worker’s compensation claims teams, including managing other leaders <strong>(please note we can only consider leaders that have experience managing other leaders).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Strong strategic and change management experience.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent technical knowledge of workers compensation claims, including large losses and litigated cases.<\/li>\n<li>Experience managing TPA strategy and key vendor relationships.<\/li>\n<li>Strong knowledge of worker’s compensation policy wording and regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Adjuster licenses in multiple states.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>This role is FULLY REMOTE, offering up to $195,000 base salary, a 25% bonus and benefits. The business is expanding through acquisitions and organic growth, and this hire will help bring financial data from different operations into a consistent view of performance.<\/p>\n<p>You’ll work closely with the Director of FP&A, accounting, and business leaders. The role combines hands-on budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling with exposure to acquisition analysis and executive reporting. It’s a good fit for someone who enjoys working through raw data, understanding what drives the numbers, and building processes as the business grows.<\/p>\n<h2>What You’ll Do<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Build and maintain financial models for annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-range planning.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Reconcile and validate financial data from multiple business units and systems, investigating discrepancies before results are reported.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Analyze actual performance against budget and forecast, and explain the drivers behind key variances.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Develop dashboards, KPIs, and reporting for executives, business leaders, and investors.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Support acquisition reviews by analyzing historical financials and tracking earnings and pro forma adjustments.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Partner with accounting to improve data quality, streamline manual workflows, and strengthen planning and reporting tools.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What You’ll Bring<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>At least five years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or financial analysis.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and variance analysis.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work independently with large, complex datasets.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>A solid understanding of accounting principles and how the financial statements connect.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The ability to explain financial results clearly to stakeholders outside finance.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Insurance background is a must.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Preferred Experience<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Experience in a private equity-backed, acquisitive, or fast-growing business.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Exposure to acquisition integration, EBITDA adjustments, or quality of earnings analysis.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience with financial planning platforms or visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Insurance brokerage or recurring-revenue experience is a plus. It is delivering some of the biggest infrastructure projects in the Netherlands. For one of its project clusters we are looking for an interim Financial Project Accountant.
