Position Overview<\/strong>
We are seeking a Senior Claims Specialist<\/strong> to join the Environmental Claims team. This role requires expertise in handling complex first- and third-party environmental liability claims, as well as professional liability claims related to the construction industry. Additional experience with general liability and excess claims across industries such as contractors, oil & gas, auto, trucking, and premises liability is highly valued.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Manage and directly handle primary and excess liability claims from intake through resolution in accordance with policy terms and regulatory requirements<\/li>\n
  • Analyze coverage issues and prepare detailed, comprehensive coverage determinations<\/li>\n
  • Partner with external counsel to develop and execute cost-effective litigation strategies<\/li>\n
  • Oversee and manage outside vendors, including review of billing practices and invoices<\/li>\n
  • Negotiate claim settlements within delegated authority levels<\/li>\n
  • Present claim trends and severity insights to internal stakeholders and external partners<\/li>\n
  • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, trials, and other claim-related proceedings as needed<\/li>\n
  • Collaborate with underwriting teams and support broker\/client engagement efforts<\/li>\n
  • Maintain required adjuster licenses and ensure compliance with regulatory standards<\/li>\n
  • Travel as needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • Minimum of 4 years of casualty claims experience, including environmental liability and construction professional liability claims<\/li>\n
    • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment<\/li>\n
    • Proven collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills<\/li>\n
    • Demonstrated negotiation and complex claim evaluation expertise<\/li>\n
    • High level of analytical thinking and decision-making capability<\/li>\n
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and claims management systems<\/li>\n
    • Ability to influence and build strong working relationships across teams<\/li>\n
    • Must hold multiple adjuster licenses or be willing to obtain them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

This is a high-impact role sitting within the Actuarial Function, offering exposure across multiple markets, reporting bases, and senior stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p> This position will suit an actuary who enjoys combining technical depth with commercial insight, and who is motivated by the opportunity to influence decision-making in a collaborative, international environment. You will play a key role in providing independent oversight of reserving while contributing to ongoing improvements in processes, models, and controls.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>What You’ll Be Involved In<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> You will take a leading role in reviewing and challenging reserving outputs, working closely with teams across Risk, Finance, and the first line actuarial function. Your work will feed directly into senior governance forums, giving you regular exposure to committees and leadership.<\/p>\n<p> Alongside this, you’ll contribute to the delivery of actuarial opinions and key regulatory submissions, while supporting the evolution of assumptions, models, and frameworks.
