Large Loss Casualty Adjuster

Handle complex first- and third-party bodily injury and liability claims within a specialty casualty environment. This role focuses on high-exposure, litigated losses involving:

  • Large Loss Casualty
  • Construction Defect
  • New York Labor Law
  • Sexual Misconduct
  • Environmental Liability
  • Trucking & Commercial Auto
  • Excess & Surplus (E&S)
  • Professional Liability

This position is designed for an experienced adjuster comfortable managing severe and complex claims with minimal supervision. Strong litigation management, coverage analysis, negotiation, and investigative skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve moderate to highly complex casualty claims
  • Analyze coverage, liability, damages, and overall claim exposure
  • Conduct detailed investigations including policy review, witness interviews, medical analysis, and documentation review
  • Manage represented and litigated bodily injury claims through resolution
  • Review medical records, treatment history, billing documentation, and causation issues
  • Establish reserves and develop claim resolution strategies
  • Prepare reservation of rights letters, coverage position letters, disclaimers, and settlement communications
  • Maintain accurate file documentation and proactive diary management
  • Coordinate with defense counsel, independent adjusters, engineers, experts, and other vendors
  • Identify potential fraud indicators and submit SIU referrals when appropriate
  • Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and training as needed

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of casualty claims handling experience
  • Strong background handling litigated bodily injury and complex liability claims
  • Experience with large loss, trucking, environmental, construction defect, or specialty casualty claims preferred
  • Strong understanding of coverage analysis, liability evaluation, and exposure recognition
  • Ability to independently manage a high-severity caseload in a remote environment
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • State licensing/certification where required
  • Bachelor’s degree and industry designations preferred
