Senior Reinsurance Underwriter – Property & Casualty

We are partnering with a growing and highly entrepreneurial reinsurance business seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join its expanding underwriting team.

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic international organisation where you will play a key role in underwriting activities while helping to shape underwriting processes, risk appetite frameworks and broader business strategy. Unlike traditional underwriting roles, this position offers significant exposure to strategic decision-making, business development and portfolio development activities. This is both technical & commercial with a wealth of strategic exposure, client contact and requires underwriting authority.

The Opportunity

Working closely with senior leadership, you will be responsible for underwriting and managing a diverse Property & Casualty reinsurance portfolio while contributing to the continued evolution of the underwriting function.

You will operate within a highly collaborative environment, working alongside experienced market professionals and supporting the development of underwriting best practices as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage Property & Casualty reinsurance business in line with portfolio objectives and risk appetite.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of underwriting processes, frameworks and governance.
• Support strategic discussions relating to portfolio growth, market positioning and business development.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, cedants and market partners.
• Represent the business at client meetings, conferences and industry events.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders on underwriting strategy and portfolio optimisation.
• Provide technical insight while maintaining a strong commercial focus on profitable growth.
• Collaborate with colleagues across multiple international markets and functions.

Candidate Profile

We are interested in speaking with experienced underwriting professionals who can demonstrate:

• 5-10+ years of experience within Property & Casualty reinsurance underwriting.
• Strong underwriting fundamentals, ideally with a Property focus, although Casualty backgrounds will also be considered.
• Excellent commercial awareness and relationship-management skills.
• A client-facing approach with the ability to build credibility externally and internally.
• Experience contributing to underwriting strategy, process improvement or business development initiatives.
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and evolving environment.
• A proactive, adaptable and hands-on working style.

Highly Desirable

• Experience within German-speaking markets.
• Exposure to Spanish-speaking markets.
• French language skills.
• Previous experience operating in international or multi-market environments.

  • Base salary of approximately €120,000-€140,000
