Oliver James is exclusively supporting a leading insurance organization in the search for an Accounting Policy Leader.
This role sits within a high-performing finance leadership team and carries broad influence across technical accounting, deal activity, and enterprise-wide initiatives – with a particular emphasis on insurance liabilities and reserves.
Key Accountabilities

Leadership of accounting policy interpretation and implementation for insurance assets and liabilities

Ownership of technical guidance, policy documentation, and internal advisory support

Evaluation of accounting implications for M&A, reinsurance, and complex transactions

Collaboration on new product structures and evolving liability frameworks

Preparation of technical memos for senior leadership and external auditors

Support of quarterly results reviews, reserve analysis, and statutory/GAAP reporting

Contribution to systems, process, and reporting enhancements
Required Background

Extensive experience in insurance GAAP and statutory accounting

CPA qualification with a strong technical accounting foundation

Track record of advising on complex transactions and accounting judgments

Ability to influence senior stakeholders through clear, credible communication

Highly analytical, proactive, and commercially aware
