GAAP Accounting Manager (Process & Reporting Focus)
Oliver James is partnering with a high-growth specialty insurance carrier to appoint a GAAP Accounting Manager with a strong focus on process ownership and reporting excellence.
Our client is a data-driven, technology-enabled insurer supporting niche underwriting programs across the US and international markets. With strong ratings and an entrepreneurial operating model, the business is scaling rapidly and investing heavily in finance infrastructure.
The Opportunity
This newly elevated role sits at the centre of the GAAP close, consolidation, and reporting ecosystem. Rather than people management, the emphasis is on process leadership, control design, automation, and cross-functional execution across a complex insurance environment.
Key Responsibilities

Ownership of GAAP close processes, journal governance, and reconciliations across group entities

Leadership of consolidation, eliminations, and reporting workflows

Oversight of audit readiness, documentation standards, and control frameworks

Process design and automation initiatives to enhance close efficiency and data integrity

Primary point of contact for investment reporting systems and third-party providers

Coordination with reinsurance, underwriting, and actuarial teams on reporting alignment

Development of management and external reporting packages
Desired Experience

Strong GAAP insurance accounting background (P&C preferred)

Proven experience owning complex close and consolidation processes

Comfort operating in fast-paced, evolving environments

Experience with NetSuite, Clearwater, or similar platforms advantageous

Highly organised, systems-minded, and solutions-oriented
