This client, known for its robust market presence and steadfast commitment to integrity and innovation, is seeking to appoint a Technical Accounting MAnager to their accounting department.
Responsibilities
- Research and interpret U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting guidance, with particular focus on LDTI, reinsurance accounting, and consolidation/VIEs
- Prepare/review US GAAP and SAP financial statements for multiple life/health carriers.
- Collaborate with external auditors during year-end audits and statutory examinations.
- Assist in building and maintaining internal control procedures to ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement in reporting processes.
- Support management with special projects, ad-hoc reports, and other accounting-related tasks as required.
- Assist in oversight and training of senior and staff accountants
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, or related field with 5+ years of accounting experience specific to the US insurance industry. Strong academic performance is a plus.
- Expert proficiency with MS Office suite.
- ERP software experience required (e.g. QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Experience with compilation and review of Life/Health statutory financial statements (i.e. “Blue Books”) is strongly preferred. Understanding of US GAAP for life insurers (LDTI and/or ASC 825) is also preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
