Our client is a global insurance group with extensive life and general insurance operations across international markets, now seeking a senior compliance leader in Financial Crime Compliance for Asia. This role will guide and strengthen regional Financial Crime Compliance governance, risk controls and provide oversight across Asia businesses, as well as the development and execution of the regional AML framework while acting as a key liaison between group functions and designated operating entities. The role is based in Singapore, covering the Asia region.
The key responsibilities for this position are as follows:
- Guide and coordinate the regional financial crime compliance agenda across Asia, ensuring each local entity follows strong governance, risk controls and monitoring standards.
- Act as a key adviser on financial crime matters, shaping the regional oversight approach and maintaining close relationships with both in regional teams and global compliance groups.
- Lead the creation, enhancement and execution of the AML program, serving as the main expert for all matters related to sanctions, anti financial crime and regulatory safeguards.
- Review new business initiatives, product rollouts and operational changes to ensure they meet AML and sanctions expectations, recommending controls where needed.
- Track regulatory updates and evolving financial crime risks, updating internal frameworks, processes and guidance to stay ahead of industry and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare periodic reports and insights for senior leadership, highlighting compliance performance, key issues and emerging risk exposures across the region.
- Work collaboratively with functions such as risk, audit, legal and operations to promote alignment and ensure consistent application of compliance practices.
- Deliver practical financial crime compliance advice to business leaders and continuously scan regional regulatory developments to assess and mitigate risks across core business activities.
Successful applicants will have the following skills and experience:
- University degree in accounting, legal or relevant disciplines with CAMS or relevant AML professional certifications
- Minimum 12+ years work experience in AML and financial crime compliance experience gained from insurance, banking or financial services
- Strong expertise in AML and CFT practices, including regulatory oversight and compliance operations
- Experience in implementing AML and CFT initiatives, such as monitoring activities, CDD and EDD procedures and investigative reviews
- Highly developed analytical, problem solving, and communication capabilities
- Knowledge of compliance related technologies and analytical platforms
- Asia regional experience overseeing work across multiple regions or regulatory jurisdictions
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English
