Financial Controller
Location: Remote with periodic travel to NYC, Greenwich, CT or Charlotte, NC
Compensation: 180k-280k pending on candidate expeirence. Bonus on offer.
The Role
A leadership position reporting to the CFO, tasked with building and administering the financial reporting systems for a growing insurance platform. This role manages the accounting staff and maintains high-level relationships across actuarial, asset management, and sales teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Reporting Leadership: Lead US statutory financial reporting and build GAAP accounting processes in parallel.
- Team Management: Oversee accounting staff while remaining “hands-on” with process development, budgeting, forecasting and financial statement generation.
- Stakeholder Management: Communicate technical accounting concepts to non-technical audiences across the organization.
- Policy & Audit: Direct accounting policy development and manage the overall audit process.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of accounting experience within the US insurance industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
- Statutory Expertise: Advanced experience with Life/Health “Blue Books” and life insurance GAAP (ASC 944, 825, LDTI).
- Leadership: Proven management experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, “start-up” environment.
- Credentials: CPA designation is a plus.
