Accounting Policy Lead/ Senior
Location: Remote with periodic travel to Greenwich, CT or Charlotte, NC
Compensation: Flexible based on experience
The Role
This technical role ensures compliant financial reporting according to US GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP). You will be responsible for researching complex accounting standards and documenting their impact on insurance products.
Core Responsibilities
- Technical Reporting: Prepare US GAAP and SAP financial statements for multiple life/health carriers.
- Research: Monitor developments in ASC 944, LDTI, and CECL to document their impact on reinsurance and reporting.
- General Ledger: Prepare journal entries and perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations.
- Controls: Maintain internal control procedures to ensure reporting integrity.
- Audit Liaison: Collaborate with external auditors during year-end and statutory exams.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: 4+ years of accounting experience strictly within the US life insurance insurance industry or coming from an external audit or accounting advisory background.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of US GAAP for life insurers (LDTI or ASC 825) and “Blue Book” statutory filings preferred.
- Systems: Proficiency in MS Office and ERP/EPM software.
