About the Role
The Corporate Controller will lead the organization’s accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role oversees the accounting team, manages financial records, prepares budgets and statements, and partners with leadership to provide strategic analysis and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management, while supervising a small accounting team.

  • Maintain corporate financial records, ledgers, and reporting schedules.

  • Develop, implement, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management and regulatory purposes.

  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, providing variance analysis and financial insights.

  • Manage multistate compliance requirements, including tax filings and regulatory submissions.

  • Coordinate external audits and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions and regulators.

  • Prepare analytical reports forecasting income, expenses, and earnings based on historical and projected performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles.

  • Prior insurance industry experience highly desirable.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Familiarity with AMS360 and/or AIM/ImageRight is a plus.

  • Background check required.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in financial and management accounting, including budget preparation, analysis, and financial statement review.

  • Experience with multistate tax compliance and filings, including surplus lines.

  • Ability to lead, mentor, and develop an accounting team.

  • Strong collaborative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across management and operational teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in professional liability or surplus lines insurance.

  • Advanced knowledge of multistate tax law and regulatory compliance.

  • CPA designation strongly preferred.

  • Skilled in financial projections, modeling, and advanced analysis.
