Head of Investment Accounting
Oliver James has been exclusively engaged to support a Class E Life Reinsurer to help recruit a Head of Investment Accounting.
This is a Senior, high impact role reporting directly into the CFO and Chief Accounting Officer. The individual will be responsible for oversight of the financial reporting, accounting policy and investment onboarding for a investment portfolio sub 10 billion. The client has a sophisticated portfolio of Fixed Income Securities, Mortgage Loans, Private Credit, and Private Equity.
What You’ll Do
- Lead investment accounting and reporting under statutory and GAAP frameworks.
- Ensure strong controls, high-quality reporting, and regulatory readiness at all times.
- Analyze investment portfolio performance and deliver KPIs that support asset-liability management and capital decision-making.
- Collaborate with investment, actuarial, risk, and tax teams on new transactions, portfolio activity, and reporting.
- Oversee onboarding of new assets, investment systems, and external service providers.
- Lead investment-related audits and regulatory interactions.
- Ad hoc projects as required.
What You Bring
- 10+ years of investment accounting experience, ideally in life reinsurance or insurance.
- Deep knowledge of statutory accounting and regulatory requirements relevant to Class E reinsurers.
- Experience with managing complex investments specifically fixed income, mortgage loans, private credit, and private equity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required (MBA or CFA a plus).
