An opportunity is available for a seasoned Claims Manager to oversee complex casualty and specialty claims. This position is hybrid, based out of New York, with direct reporting to senior leadership within the claims function. In addition to managing high-value claims, this role plays a key part in shaping team capability and performance. Responsibilities include:
- Assess and improve claims handling procedures, tools, and workflows
- Conduct detailed evaluations of coverage, liability, and financial exposure to support effective claim resolution
- Draft and review coverage correspondence, including position letters
- Lead settlement discussions and implement strategies to reduce financial risk
- Ensure adherence to internal standards, regulatory requirements, and quality benchmarks
- Maintain consistent communication with internal partners across departments
- Oversee accurate reporting and documentation of claims activity
- Participate in recruiting and onboarding claims staff
- Provide oversight and direction on claims managed by team members
- Coach and support adjusters in investigation and negotiation techniques
- Deliver training sessions on industry developments and evolving risks
- Contribute to organizational initiatives aimed at improving claims outcomes
- Work collaboratively with teams such as legal, finance, underwriting, and operations
- Uphold compliance with company policies and procedures
- Travel occasionally for claim-related proceedings such as mediations or trials
