Head of Fund Accounting – Private Funds
Location: Manhattan
We are partnering with a leading asset manager (~$30B AUM) seeking a Head of Fund Accounting to lead the private funds accounting function. This individual will oversee all fund accounting operations across a diverse private investment platform and serve as a key partner to senior leadership, investment teams, and external stakeholders.
This is a high-impact leadership role offering the opportunity to build, scale, and optimize processes within a growing platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the fund accounting function across private equity and/or credit
- Oversee NAV calculations, financial reporting, capital calls, distributions, and investor allocations
- Manage and develop a team of fund accountants, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment
- Act as primary liaison with third-party administrators, auditors, and other service providers
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
- Partner closely with Investor Relations, Legal, Tax, and Investment teams on fund structuring and ongoing operations
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and scalability of systems and infrastructure
- Support new fund launches, including operational setup and documentation review
Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant fund accounting experience
- Prior experience managing or mentoring a team
- Familiarity with private funds structures and operations
- Strong accounting foundation (CPA or equivalent is a plus)
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively across teams
