Oliver James Executive are supporting a leading Life Insurer headquartered in Hong Kong to expand their High Net Worth division. This High Net Worth (HNW) segment is rapidly expanding, providing sophisticated protection, legacy planning, and wealth solutions to affluent clients. The position will lead cutting-edge underwriting for ultra-high-value cases, harnessing advanced technologies like AI and Generative AI to achieve superior risk selection and outstanding client results.
This strategic leadership role offers the chance to transform HNW underwriting, build a high-performance team, and establish our organization as the go-to underwriter for HNW brokers and clients across key markets in Asia, including Hong Kong, Singapore, and growth areas like Malaysia and China.
Key Highlights of the Role:
- Strategic Leadership: Define the underwriting philosophy for the HNW segment, spearheading modernization, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.
- Team Leadership: Guide a skilled team underwriters and case managers, delivering expert advisory services and “four-eye” review for complex HNW cases.
- Innovation Pioneer: Partner with senior HNW leadership to integrate advanced technologies (including Gen AI, LLMs, and digital platforms) to enhance efficiency, conversion rates, and underwriting standards.
- Partnership Builder: Develop and nurture key relationships with international brokers and reinsurance partners, leading treaty and capacity negotiations for large facultative cases.
- Thought Leader: Share expertise on emerging risks (e.g., AI-related fraud/deepfakes, genetic advancements in personalized medicine) and support innovative product development for client-focused offerings.
- Talent Developer: Drive rotation programs, targeted training, and succession planning to cultivate top-tier HNW underwriting talent.
- Impact Driver: Maintain rigorous, consistent risk assessment via audits, process enhancements, and alignment with group-wide standards.
What We’re Looking For:
- 15+ years of senior leadership in life insurance underwriting, with strong expertise in medical, financial, non-medical, and compliance risk evaluation.
- Advanced knowledge of rules engines, digital underwriting tools, predictive analytics, and reinsurance treaties/capacity.
- Track record of successful change management, strategic initiatives, and innovation in multi-market settings.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, commercial acumen, and adaptability across diverse cultures and stakeholders.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional Asian languages are advantageous.
- Established industry presence with strong visionary and collaborative abilities.
