Infrastructure Engineer – Level 3 (VMware)

The Infrastructure Engineer – Level 3 (VMware) will collaborate closely with internal architecture teams and customer stakeholders, taking ownership of complex infrastructure solutions from design through to delivery with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level technical support across multiple client environments within managed services and project engagements.
  • Manage and resolve high-priority and escalated technical incidents, following established incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for major incidents and ensure resolution within agreed SLAs.
  • Escalate technical issues internally or to relevant vendors where appropriate.
  • Proactively identify potential system issues and resolve them before they impact operations.
  • Perform systems management design activities, including patching strategies and upgrade planning.
  • Monitor and report on capacity management and performance metrics.
  • Act as a key technical design resource for customer projects and new opportunities.
  • Develop and review technical proposals, including high-level designs and solution estimates.
  • Produce solution specifications and low-level design documentation.
  • Implement and deliver infrastructure solutions within client environments.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation in line with organisational and client standards.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key qualifications:

  • Overall strong experience in Infrastructure and data centre
  • 4+ years’ experience in data storage and management, including FC and iSCSI SAN implementations (design experience desirable).
  • 3+ years’ experience with Veeam or other backup solutions.
  • Strong experience implementing and configuring virtual and physical infrastructure solutions.
  • Experience with capacity planning and infrastructure sizing methodologies.
  • Design and implementation of high availability solutions.
  • Experience with cloud management tools is advantageous.
  • ITIL Foundation certification is desirable.
  • Security experience beneficial.
  • Linux experience advantageous.
  • Scripting skills for system administration and automation tasks.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Strong focus on delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
  • Act as a professional ambassador when engaging with clients and stakeholders.
  • Looking for strong VMware experience
  • Ideally VCP and/or VCAP certification and have experience with some of the following products: VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF); vSphere; Site Recovery Manager (SRM); vSAN; Horizon; Workspace ONE; NSX; vCloud Director (vCD)
