Oliver James is currently partnering with a leading banking institution in Brussels to recruit a Machine Learning Engineer.
Our client is a well-established financial services organisation undergoing a significant data and AI transformation programme. As part of this strategic investment, they are strengthening their analytic and machine learning capabilities in customer analytic and operational optimisation.
Role Overview
As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and deploying scalable machine learning solutions within a regulated banking environment. You will work closely with data scientists, data engineers, IT teams and business stakeholders to ensure that models are robust, production-ready and aligned with governance and security standards.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain end-to-end machine learning pipelines

Industrialise models from proof of concept to production environments

Deploy, monitor and optimise model performance in collaboration with IT and data teams

Contribute to the evolution of the data and AI architecture

Ensure compliance with internal governance policies and regulatory requirements
Profile
-
Bachelor/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field

Minimum 2 years of experience in a Machine Learning Engineering or similar role

Strong proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch
- Mandatory experience with at least one major cloud platform (GCP, AWS or Azure), including deployment and management of machine learning solutions in a cloud environment.

Solid understanding of MLOps principles and CI/CD practices

Experience working with large-scale datasets and distributed systems

Good knowledge of SQL and data engineering concepts

Professional fluency in English
Nice to Have

Experience with Google Cloud Platform, particularly Vertex AI, BigQuery or Cloud Run

Previous experience within the banking or financial services sector
