We are seeking a Principal Data Scientist to lead the development and deployment of predictive models, working with cutting-edge techniques including GenAI and large language models, and helping shape the broader AI/ML roadmap. It’s a great fit for someone who enjoys solving complex, open-ended problems and turning data into actionable insights. This role sits at the intersection of advanced analytics and real business impact and sit on the Predictive Analytics team.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to and implement AI/ML initiatives aligned with organizational goals
- Build, deploy, and maintain predictive models using Python and modern machine learning techniques
- Apply knowledge of large language models to solve text-based and NLP challenges
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into analytical solutions
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to support scalable data infrastructure
- Conduct complex analyses with limited direction and present findings to leadership
- Document methodologies, assumptions, and results clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Establish and refine modeling standards and analytical best practices
- Communicate technical concepts in accessible terms for diverse stakeholders
Technical Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in Python, including libraries such as NumPy, pandas, and scikit-learn
- Strong background in machine learning, AI, and deployment of generative AI solutions
- Experience working with large-scale data environments preferred
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design principles
- Experience working in agile environments using frameworks like Scrum or Kanban
- Emphasis on testing, validation, and continuous model improvement
Experience & Capabilities
- Proven ability to lead analytical projects and manage modeling initiatives
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence business decisions
- Ability to mentor and support junior team members
- Minimum of 6+ years in data science within insurance, or 8+ years in predictive analytics in another industry
