About the Client

Our client is a well-established leader in the Life Insurance industry, renowned for their commitment to excellence and innovative approach to insurance products and services. They are currently seeking a dynamic Product Manager to join their Benefits line of Business on a contract-to-hire basis.

Role Overview

As a Product Manager, you will play a dual role, operating strategically at a departmental level while remaining hands-on in the day-to-day delivery of product initiatives. You will partner closely with development teams during onboarding and throughout the product lifecycle, contributing directly to backlog management, user story creation, and solution design.

This is an individual contributor position requiring strong ownership, autonomy, and the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple levels of the organisation while ensuring successful delivery of key product capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive product initiatives that support the configuration, integration, and delivery of employee benefit plans.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to translate business requirements into well-structured user stories and prioritised backlogs.
  • Work with external partner platforms to ensure seamless data exchange and accurate ingestion of benefit plan information.Provide leadership and direction at a departmental level, ensuring product decisions align with broader business and operational objectives.
  • Support onboarding activities and act as a subject matter expert for benefits data flows, integrations, and plan configuration processes.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience working as a Product Manager or Product Owner within Insurance, specifically the Benefits line of business.
  • Strong understanding of employee enrolment data, including how member data is structured, maintained, and transmitted across systems.
  • Experience with benefit plan build and configuration processes, including knowledge of key data points such as eligibility, evidence of insurability, and claims status.
  • Working knowledge of API integrations and experience using tools such as Postman to support testing, troubleshooting, and validation of data flows.
  • Ability to operate effectively across multiple levels, from high-level strategic planning to detailed execution and delivery.
