Our client is a leading international Insurance Group offering a diverse range of services across Life Insurance, Health Insurance, Wealth Management and Asset Management. With a strong focus on developing into the Wealth Management and HNW space, a Risk Management Leadership position has arisen to focus on new projects as part of the Wealth Management business expansion, based in Hong Kong.

The key responsibilities for this position are as follows:

  • Part of a new specialist team focusing on Risk & Compliance for special projects as part of the Wealth Management / HNW business expansion.
  • Responsible for the overall design, implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Risk Management program that is focused on regulatory, investments and sales / distribution risk and compliance, whilst ensuring its alignment with business objectives and Group Risk & Compliance’s strategic directions.
  • Lead the risk assessment process for special projects by partnering with senior leaders and executive committees to identify and address key regulatory, ethical, and emerging risks while ensuring compliance resources are directed effectively.
  • Responsible for the development of relevant Risk & Compliance policies and procedures necessary to support the objectives and values of the business and for the implementation of corporate policies and procedures to manage corporate-level regulatory risks.
  • Deliver hands‑on support across compliance risk, financial crime prevention, and operational risk by advising the business on regulatory expectations, corporate compliance requirements, and AML/CTF obligations.
  • Execute the annual Risk & Compliance program, including monitoring and assurance activities, while tracking regulatory developments, assessing impacts, and maintaining accurate regulatory records.
  • Oversee key operational elements such as third‑party governance, business continuity, and resilience to ensure controls remain effective and aligned with regulations.
  • Foster credibility and maintain effective communication with regulators. Develop and implement regulatory strategies to facilitate the effective regulatory communication carried out under common protocol / standards across the company. Collaborate with first line owners to interpret the regulatory requirement and expectation and facilitate the owners to implement the standard in compliance with regulatory guidelines and requirements through training and education to internal stakeholders.
  • Support the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer by ensuring timely, accurate governance reporting and escalation of risk and compliance issues to senior management, Board committees, and relevant counterparts.
  • Lead core regulatory and risk responsibilities, including risk and control self-assessments preparation, regulatory submissions, enterprise risk dashboard maintenance, and tracking of risk metrics, KRIs, and emerging risks.
  • Deliver risk‑based monitoring, compliance reviews and investigations, establishing structured processes to address potential policy breaches or fraud.

Successful applicants will have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree holder with 12+ years solid work experience in the financial services industry handling risk management, risk advisory, regulatory risk and compliance, financial crime / fraud risk and/or controls related functions
  • Experience in establishing new entities, new markets, new business, new products, from a risk management and compliance involvement would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of the Insurance business preferred or other experience in relevant areas such as Wealth Management / HNW and / or Private Banking
  • Experience from Risk Management Advisory / Consulting firms focusing on the insurance sector would also be considered
  • Ability to work under pressure, organized, detail-oriented and analytical
  • Leadership, coaching and influencing skills
  • Strong business acumen with effective change management, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English, fluency in Cantonese and / or Mandarin would be beneficial
