Senior Accountant

We are working with a well-established insurance organization to identify a Senior Accountant to join its Corporate Accounting team. This role offers strong exposure to P&C insurance accounting, with a focus on GAAP and Statutory reporting, and provides the opportunity to work within a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Role Overview
The Senior Accountant will support key areas of financial reporting, with a focus on insurance accounting across both GAAP and STAT frameworks. This individual will play a hands-on role in the close process, technical accounting, and reporting for insurance and reinsurance-related activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
- Assist with GAAP and STAT reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Support accounting for insurance and reinsurance transactions
- Assist with audit requests and regulatory reporting
- Partner with internal teams across finance and actuarial functions
- Identify and support process improvements within the accounting function
- Contribute to technical accounting research and documentation
Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally within insurance or public accounting
- CPA preferred or actively pursuing
- P&C insurance experience strongly preferred
- Reinsurance accounting experience is a major plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP and STAT accounting principles
- Background in public accounting (Big Four or national firm) is highly desirable
- Experience working with insurance carriers or reinsurance companies preferred
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively
