Senior Investment Accountant
Oliver James is partnered with a leading life and annuity financial services organization is seeking a Senior Investment Accountant to join its investment accounting team. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reconciliation of investment balances used for both US GAAP and statutory reporting. The position bridges investment operations with accounting, supporting timely and consistent reporting, process improvements, and cross-functional initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review investment-related reconciliations for US GAAP and statutory reporting.
- Clear and reconcile investment transactions across various financial subledgers.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external service providers to ensure proper transaction recognition in the general ledger.
- Monitor and substantiate investment-related suspense accounts on a monthly basis.
- Provide documentation and support for audits.
- Participate in process enhancement and automation projects.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- 4+ years of relevant experience in investment accounting, reconciliation, or investment operations.
- Solid knowledge of investment accounting principles under US GAAP and STAT.
- Proficiency in MS Excel; familiarity with Hyperion (FCC, Essbase), PeopleSoft, and data analysis tools a plus.
- Experience with Clearwater Analytics or similar investment accounting platforms preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on process improvement and automation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
