Our client is a leading multinational insurance and financial services organization with a strong presence across the Asia-Pacific region. They offer life, health, and wealth management solutions to millions of customers.
This high-visibility strategic role drives our client’s Insurance Claims System implementation as part of their digital transformation program in Hong Kong. You will lead the modernization of the core claims processing platform, ensuring seamless integration, minimal disruption, greater efficiency, faster claims settlement, and improved customer experiences. The position reports to the Head of Transformation / IT Delivery.
The Key Responsibilities for this position are as follows
- Lead the full project lifecycle of the Insurance Claims System implementation, from initiation and scoping through requirements gathering, configuration, data migration, integration, testing, go-live, and post-implementation hypercare/stabilization.
- Develop, maintain, and execute detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, budgets, resource allocation, risk registers, issue logs, and dependency management using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
- Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams spanning Claims Operations, IT Infrastructure & Applications, Finance, Compliance, Provider/Partner Networks, and external implementation partners/vendors.
- Oversee critical delivery phases: system configuration and customization, data migration strategy and execution, third-party integrations, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) coordination, end-user training, change management, and cutover/go-live readiness.
- Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring clear communication, alignment on priorities, and proactive resolution of blockers.
- Identify project risks and issues early; develop and execute robust mitigation strategies while incorporating regulatory, compliance, and data privacy requirements relevant to the Hong Kong insurance market.
- Establish governance structures, including steering committee updates, executive reporting dashboards, and regular status communications to senior leadership.
- Drive post-go-live support, performance monitoring, knowledge transfer, and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize system adoption and ROI.
- Manage vendor relationships, implementation partners, and third-party resources to ensure deliverables meet quality, timeline, and budget expectations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and refine project scope, success metrics, and deliverables while ensuring adherence to organizational standards and best practices in project management.
The successful applicants will have the following skills and experience
- University degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Insurance, or related discipline, ideally with a Master’s degree or MBA.
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive project management experience, with at least 5 years successfully leading large-scale, complex IT system implementations or migrations in the insurance, financial services, or healthcare payer sector (preferably claims or core policy administration platforms).
- Proven hands-on experience implementing or upgrading modern insurance claims management systems, ideally Metamorphosys Claims Engine, Guidewire ClaimCenter, Duck Creek Claims, Sapiens ClaimPro, or equivalent configurable, rules-based claims platforms with straight-through processing, adjudication, fraud analytics, and integration capabilities.
- Deep understanding of end-to-end insurance claims processes (intimation, registration, adjudication, settlement, fraud detection, and customer servicing) and associated workflows in a life/health/general insurance environment.
- Strong familiarity with Hong Kong regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., Insurance Authority guidelines, data protection, and financial reporting requirements) and experience embedding these into system design and deployment.
- Demonstrated success managing enterprise transformation projects in matrixed organizations, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders at all levels – from operational teams to C-suite executives.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum, or equivalent) and hands-on experience with tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar.
- Excellent leadership, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Solid experience in data migration strategy, system integration (API/legacy), UAT coordination, change management, training delivery, and post-go-live stabilization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities with a track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with bilingual proficiency in English and Cantonese (or Mandarin) is highly preferred for this Hong Kong-based role.
