Senior Reinsurance Accountant

The Opportunity
A growing P&C insurer is hiring a Senior Reinsurance Accountant into a newly created position within a small, collaborative finance team. The role reports directly to the Controller and sits at the heart of reinsurance accounting, statutory reporting, and process improvement.
You will join at a key point, working alongside a senior team member who is staying on through June to provide a structured handover. Longer term, there is a clear pathway toward Assistant Controller level responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post monthly reinsurance premium and loss journal entries
- Process reinsurance settlements across quota share, excess of loss, and catastrophe programs
- Perform monthly reinsurance account reconciliations
- Prepare and support Schedule F reporting for statutory filings
- Record daily reinsurance cash receipts and maintain detailed support schedules
- Liaise with reinsurers and brokers to resolve variances and provide documentation
- Review reinsurance contracts to support correct accounting treatment
- Support audits, examinations, and internal control processes
- Partner with Claims, Underwriting, and Actuarial teams
- Help modernise and streamline Excel-based reinsurance processes
What We Are Looking For
- Insurance or reinsurance accounting experience (P&C strongly preferred)
- Baseline exposure to reinsurance accounting, settlements, or Schedule F
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working in data-heavy environments
- Experience with GAAP and exposure to statutory accounting
- Someone practical, adaptable, and comfortable working in a lean team
- Public accounting background welcome but not required
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $100,000-$130,000+ depending on experience
