Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Claims Specialist to join the Environmental Claims team. This role requires expertise in handling complex first- and third-party environmental liability claims, as well as professional liability claims related to the construction industry. Additional experience with general liability and excess claims across industries such as contractors, oil & gas, auto, trucking, and premises liability is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and directly handle primary and excess liability claims from intake through resolution in accordance with policy terms and regulatory requirements
- Analyze coverage issues and prepare detailed, comprehensive coverage determinations
- Partner with external counsel to develop and execute cost-effective litigation strategies
- Oversee and manage outside vendors, including review of billing practices and invoices
- Negotiate claim settlements within delegated authority levels
- Present claim trends and severity insights to internal stakeholders and external partners
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, trials, and other claim-related proceedings as needed
- Collaborate with underwriting teams and support broker/client engagement efforts
- Maintain required adjuster licenses and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Travel as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of casualty claims experience, including environmental liability and construction professional liability claims
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proven collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated negotiation and complex claim evaluation expertise
- High level of analytical thinking and decision-making capability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and claims management systems
- Ability to influence and build strong working relationships across teams
- Must hold multiple adjuster licenses or be willing to obtain them
Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree is a plus, but not required
- Bachelor’s degree required
