Underwriting Analyst – Permanent

About the Role

  • Act as a business partner to Division CEOs and leadership teams by enhancing the effectiveness and understanding of underwriting reporting, delivering analysis and insights to support decision-making, and ensuring underwriting targets are achieved
  • Collaborate closely with multiple functions across the Group, including market-facing Underwriting, Underwriting Operations, Re/insurance Accounting, and Finance
  • Own the development of non-life production plans on an Underwriting Year basis
  • Produce non-life outlooks by extrapolating production figures on a quarterly basis
  • Support BU teams in preparing the quarterly Operations Review, a comprehensive 360-degree assessment of BU performance across key Group functions
  • Review and challenge quarterly premium estimate updates prepared by BU underwriters
  • Evaluate the creditworthiness of clients
  • Support commutation activities as required
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests when needed

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Advanced analytical capability with a proven ability to use data to generate insights and support strategic decisions
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (including advanced formulas and pivot tables), Power Query, and Power BI for data transformation, reporting, and visualization
  • Ability to analyse complex datasets, identify trends, and present clear, actionable insights

  • Comfortable engaging with executive management, with a strong service-oriented mindset
  • Collaborative team player who works effectively across teams and geographies
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to address complex problems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to tailor messages to different stakeholders

Work Experience

  • Solid understanding of the insurance or reinsurance value chain, key KPIs, and concepts such as quota share and excess of loss treaties
  • 4 to 5 years in relevant roles such as underwriting operations, finance, or reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education or experience in a business-related discipline
  • Master’s degree and/or insurance qualifications (e.g. CIP, APA) are an advantage
