Our client is a fortune 500 and NYSE listed insurance company with annual revenue well over $7 billion. Known as being highly innovative, forward thinking and promoting within, an exciting opportunity has opened up on the Finance Team for one talented individual.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will oversee all accounting activities for the Company's Corporate segment. Additionally, directing the reporting responsibilities, including GAAP and STAT, and design and execution of the control framework, as well as tactical process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the monthly close process, including:
    • Prepare and/or review detailed monthly and quarterly journal entries, including but not limited to; equity accounts, fixed and intangible assets, stock comp.
    • Prepare and/or review account reconciliations.
    • Oversee financial statement consolidation process.
    • Variance analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain the appropriate level of workpapers and process & control documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and related footnotes, including:
    • Consolidated US GAAP financial statements.
    • Regulatory financial statements
  • Maintain internal controls over financial reporting Liaise with external audit team.
  • Support special project work which may require critical and abstract thinking, as well as knowledge of insurance accounting, data and IT Systems.
  • Oversee General Ledger maintenance and the automation of reports and disclosures.
  • Ensure team meets all deadlines and deliverable in a timely and accurate manner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Similar. CPA highly regarded
  • A minimum of 3-5+ years of Property & Casualty Insurance accounting experience
  • Necessary computer skills with an emphasis on excel competency
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees;
  • Perceptive, self-starter with excellent problem solving abilities;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and know how to prioritize deadlines;
  • Willingness to work overtime when required to meet deadlines;
  • Dedicated team player who is flexible and adaptable to change; and
  • Organized and has good attention to detail.
