Title: Actuarial Principal - PBM Consulting

Salary: $200,000-$275,000

As a Principal, you will collaborate closely with seasoned leaders and senior consultants from a globally recognized strategy and analytics firm while contributing to a wide array of client solutions. This role offers high levels of interaction and visibility with clients, including leading insurance carriers and integrated healthcare systems. You'll take charge of business development efforts, lead execution teams, manage client relationships, oversee project delivery, and conduct peer reviews.
Potential projects may include:
Conducting RFP evaluations for pharmacy benefit vendors (PBMs, GPOs, etc.) on behalf of health plans
Initiating and managing pharmacy contract market checks
Validating rebate and discount guarantees based on PBM agreement terms
Advising on and negotiating PBM contract language
Providing strategic guidance to optimize rebate structures and discount arrangements
Required Experience & Skills:
Bachelor's degree required
Extensive expertise in the PBM operating model and broad knowledge of the pharmacy and healthcare industries
At least 7 years of experience in the PBM sector or healthcare consulting, with actuarial training strongly preferred
Familiarity with various healthcare delivery models, including Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare, and the Individual Marketplace
Strong understanding of key pharmacy-related topics such as GPOs, 340B programs, NADAC pricing, retail pharmacy network contracting, and evolving PBM financial structures
Actuarial credentials (e.g., ASA, FSA) preferred
Demonstrated ability and motivation for fast learning, professional development, and delivering high-quality work
Excellent communication skills-both verbal and written-with strong interpersonal abilities
Well-developed organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure setting
Collaborative mindset with the ability to contribute effectively in team environments
Strong analytical thinking and creative problem-solving skills for tackling complex client challenges
Self-motivated and adaptable, with a strong desire to succeed in a fast-paced, evolving landscape
