A thriving real estate management & private equity company with a strong track record is seeking a CFO to join the business in the near future.. The firm specializes in acquiring, redeveloping, managing, and leasing real estate projects with a portfolio that consists of commercial, retail, housing and land redeployment.
POSITION SUMMARY
The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the management company, including financial planning, accounting, risk management, reporting, and strategic financial leadership. In addition to the management company there will be oversight and involvement with the management company's fund. This role requires a high level of financial expertise, a deep understanding of real estate structures (including private equity) and the ability to scale a growing business.
The CFO must be both analytical and strategic, capable of partnering with ownership to shape the financial future of the company. The position is open to candidates at varying seniority levels, with consideration given to either a seasoned CFO or a high-potential finance leader ready to step into the role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute financial strategy in alignment with company goals.
- Advise ownership and executive team on capital structure, risk, and opportunities.
- Serve as a thought partner on strategic initiatives including acquisitions & dispositions.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting and finance functions, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and all regulatory requirements.
- Manage audits, tax filings, and banking relationships.
- Build and mentor a high-performing finance team.
- Optimize systems, tools, and processes to support growth and improve financial visibility.
- Lead implementation of financial software and ERP systems, as needed.
- Analyze complex real estate deals, waterfall structures, and housing incentives.
- Navigate layered financing structures and compliance requirements.
- Monitor performance of operating assets and development projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA and/or CPA preferred)
- Strong finance leadership, ideally within real estate and private equity
- Experience in a management company setting with multi-source revenue (real estate) as well as private equity structure
- Proven track record in financial strategy, team development, and process improvement
- High attention to detail and ability to think both analytically and entrepreneurially
- Passion for community-driven development and the company's mission
