Position: Commercial Property Claims Specialist

Must be willing to go into the office 4x a week, can be based out of Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA, Berkley Heights, NJ or New York, NY

A leading organization in the insurance and risk management industry is seeking experienced and motivated professionals to investigate, manage, and oversee Commercial First-Party Property claims. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team working on complex claims across multiple lines of coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of middle market, primary, and excess first-party property claims from initial report to final resolution.

  • Analyze claims documentation, policies, and customized coverage forms to determine appropriate loss assessments.

  • Oversee a building risk program managed by a third-party administrator.

  • Provide direction and support to adjusters from various carriers to facilitate timely claim resolution.

  • Coordinate and manage external vendors involved in the claims process.

  • Ensure compliance with Claim Handling Best Practices through all phases of the claim lifecycle.

  • Interpret policy language and evaluate claims for coverage and exposure.

  • Collaborate with underwriting and other internal teams to analyze claim trends and contribute to policy development.

  • Represent the company at industry events and contribute thought leadership.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience handling large commercial first-party claims, including building, business income, flood, increased cost of construction, and more.

  • Familiarity with inland marine, builder's risk, and quota share/excess property losses is preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience and training.

  • Industry certifications such as CPCU, AIS, AIC are preferred.

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain necessary insurance adjuster licenses.

  • Willingness to travel as needed.
