A newly formed, globally-backed reinsurer is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its lean and high-performing team based in Bermuda. This is a rare opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a business in its growth phase.
Operating within a fast-moving and technically complex environment, this role offers significant exposure across finance, capital, and regulatory functions. You'll work closely with senior leadership, third-party providers, and affiliated entities to ensure reporting excellence and control integrity, while contributing to the strategic evolution of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare quarterly management accounts and reports in accordance with US GAAP, including variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
Prepare annual audited financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
Oversee all core accounting functions including cash management, accounts payable, general ledger, period-end journal entries, and reconciliations.
Support the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts (P&L and Balance Sheet), in close coordination with capital and risk teams.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of annual Bermuda regulatory filings.
Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures in line with internal standards and external compliance requirements.
Lead documentation and control initiatives around financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
Drive automation projects focused on strengthening financial data integrity and improving efficiency across reporting cycles.
Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and service providers.
Contribute to board materials, regulatory submissions, and other strategic presentations.
Collaborate directly with the local finance lead and cross-functional teams across jurisdictions.
Take on additional responsibilities as needed in a growing, agile environment.
Qualifications & Experience
CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent accounting designation.
Minimum 2 years of post-qualified experience in re/insurance or a professional services firm working with re/insurance clients.
In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and understanding of Bermuda's regulatory environment.
Strong financial and investment accounting knowledge.
Advanced Excel skills and comfort with complex models and reconciliations.
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage projects, drive automation initiatives, and adapt to change within a lean structure.
