IT Infrastructure and Support Engineer - Zurich - 6 Month Contract (On-Site)
This is an initial 6 month contract that is part time (3 days a week with occasional full weeks to cover absences)
There is no remote option available - the successful candidate needs to be in the office every day.
The role is to join a global insurance business who are looking to add a temporary resource to support the IT Infrastructure / Support and Operations centre through the general day to day running of the IT function.

Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support & Maintenance: Respond to technical requests, install, configure, diagnose, repair, patch, and upgrade IT hardware and systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Issue Management: Track and manage requests through an ITSM platform, driving issues to resolution and escalating to second and third-line support teams as necessary.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor global systems, networks, virtualised platforms, and applications for operational health, resolving issues and escalating when required.
- Out-of-Hours Support: Provide essential out-of-hours emergency support as part of a global on-call rota.
- Application Management: Create and deploy Windows application packages and manage monthly patch deployments via automated systems.
- User Training & Onboarding: Lead staff onboarding processes, conducting system inductions and ongoing user training as new systems are deployed.
- Data Center Operations: Oversee local data center operations, coordinating with vendors and ensuring compliance with change control procedures.
- Security & Vulnerability Management: Work with the IT Security team to ensure compliance with security policies and assist with vulnerability management and patching.
- Project Support: Assist in infrastructure projects, ensuring smooth transitions from deployment to operational handover.
Ideal experience / background:
- 3+ years of experience supporting multi-vendor environments, ideally Linux, VMware, and Microsoft products.
- Strong experience with Microsoft operating systems and applications, including Windows 10/11, Server 2012/2016/2019, Office 365, and Intune.
- Solid understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, and PowerShell.
- Experience with virtualization platforms like Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop and VMware vSphere.
- Hands-on experience with collaboration tools such as Office 365, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive.
- Strong customer service skills, excellent communication (both verbal and written), and the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE) are advantageous.
- CCNA or equivalent networking certifications are a plus
- Experience in automation and scripting with languages like Python or PowerShell is a plus.
