A major client within the Insurance sector is setting up a brand new development team to modernise and revamp their internal processes. My client is looking for an experienced Senior Developer with experience of working within finance or actuary to come on board and work as part of a internal consultancy to automate a range of financial processes.

This role, which sits within the Finance function and reports to the Head of Automation and Insights, will allow the organisation to develop a centre of excellence for Finance from a technology perspective, that works closely with reporting, capital management, hedging and other business critical teams.

As a rapidly growing business, my client has a clear objective to ensure that the Finance function can cope with rapid growth and expanding reporting and regulatory pressures. This role, which sits within the Finance function and reports to the Head of Automation and Insights, will allow PIC to develop a centre of excellence for Finance from a technology perspective, that works closely with reporting, capital management, hedging and other business critical teams.

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for developing secure, robust, scalable technical products. Including testing and releasing of code from Test through to UAT and Production
  2. Responsible for guiding and overseeing developers through tasks, providing direction and advice where required.
  3. Responsible for carrying out code reviews and approvals on any code changes.
  4. Responsible for communicating technical detail to non-technical team members and stakeholders such as Project Managers, Testers and clients.
  5. Responsible for leading the technical delivery of the project - including leading other developers within the project team where necessary.

Experience / Knowledge

Essential:

  • Detailed working knowledge of at least one automation technology with experience of developing and embedding solutions with a strong focus on governance
  • Strong knowledge of at least one programming language (preferably Python or R/R Shiny)
  • Experience of implementing technology driven change across parts of an organisation (preferably Finance)
  • Background in either the UK Life insurance landscape from a finance perspective with experience of delivering actuarial or wider Finance transformation and/or deploying and maintaining sophisticated technology driven solutions covering data, processes and visualisation across a range of sectors

Desirable:

  • Broader understanding of different automation technologies available
  • Experience building visualisations (preferably PowerBI)
  • Detailed understanding of how finance functions operate in the life insurance sector
  • Detailed working knowledge of at least one automation technology with experience of developing and embedding solutions with a strong focus on governance
  • Practical knowledge of IT infrastructure (Microsoft Azure a plus)
  • Understanding of financial reporting methodologies, including IFRS17
  • Strong VBA programming skills
