Senior Data Engineer
Location: Hybrid - Dublin, Ireland
Contract - Initial 6-Month with extension
Who We're Looking For:
We're seeking a Senior Data Engineer with 6+ years of experience to drive the design and implementation of scalable data pipelines and observability frameworks. You'll play a key role in supporting data science, engineering, and operations teams through efficient ETL processes, analytics, and monitoring tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and maintain data pipelines (ETL/ELT) for transforming and aggregating data from various sources
- Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to build models and algorithms
- Develop observability pipelines and standards for logging, metrics, and tracing
- Support event-driven and messaging architectures (e.g., Pub/Sub)
- Monitor system performance, detect anomalies, and support incident response
- Visualise data and telemetry insights using tools like Power BI or Tableau
- Promote best practices in instrumentation, data governance, and documentation
Required Skills:
- Strong Python and SQL skills (3+ years)
- Experience with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- Familiarity with AWS (Redshift, RDS); Azure or GCP is a plus
- Background in observability tools (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
- Knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architectures
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT frameworks
- Automation/scripting for infrastructure and data workflows
- Professional certifications in cloud, data, or observability technologies
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
