Senior Staff Accountant - Dallas, TX
Overview:
A growing organization in Dallas is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to support full-cycle accounting operations, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. This role offers exposure to investment accounting, real estate, and mortgage loan activities, with a focus on continuous process improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead monthly and quarterly close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries related to investment and real estate operations.
Prepare and review bank reconciliations, general ledger accounts, and other financial reconciliations.
Draft and maintain US GAAP financial statements for affiliated entities, including detailed footnote disclosures.
Develop and distribute internal financial reporting packages as needed.
Assist in the preparation of supporting schedules and exhibits for quarterly and annual filings.
Contribute to the preparation of audited financial statements and respond to audit-related requests.
Support the completion of HUD audits and assist with related documentation for real estate holdings.
Participate in the preparation of regulatory and financial filings, including MD&A and other compliance documents.
Coordinate with external auditors, regulators, and other third parties as needed.
Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency within the accounting function.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
6+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including exposure to investment or real estate accounting.
Proficiency with US GAAP and full-cycle accounting processes.
Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and managing monthly/quarterly close timelines.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills; working knowledge of other MS Office applications.
Experience with general ledger and reporting systems; prior experience with financial statement preparation tools is a plus.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong documentation and work paper referencing abilities.
Exposure to regulatory filing preparation is a plus, but not required.
